After eight and a half years, I'm considering getting a new truck. My current one is sitting at the end (beginning?) of the driveway with a "for sale" sign on it. I'm asking $3,000 more than what the dealer is offering. From what I see advertised in the papers for a used truck, what I'm asking for is a steal. Man, the mark-up car dealers get is unreal!

The trouble is two-fold. One, I don't get much traffic on my county road. Two, it's a hassle to self-sell. But I'm trying to be patient. That's more than I can say for the Toyota dealer that's trying to sell me that new truck. Pressure, pressure. Little wonder I've waited so long before hassling with all this. I won't go into details, but I'm sure my blood pressure is elevated.  To be continued.

great, I've sold a lot of stuff on Craigslist.  Watch out for the ripoff "replies", they have examples of typical ones on Craigslist.

I don't get replies from scammers any more because I say in the ad, include (some special word you make up) in a reply email.  If the Special Word isn't in a reply, my email filter treats it as spam.  This screens out bots, and the scammers use bots.

I do sell vehicles up here in Canada. On average you can get more selling it privately. Whenever you trade in they take into account reconditioning costs and what the average selling price for a vehicle your age is going for(or black book) Toyota trucks in general do have a higher MSRP. As for the high pressure I am sorry to hear that. It's really annoying for customers to have to deal with. I did my research on what dealers in my city didn't operate  that way and got a job there. As for markup, I know on new we have a 4%(depending on the dealer) markup on used it can be about 5-6%(also depending on the dealer) which gives some negotiating room for the customer and dealer.

Hope that helps a bit,

Best of luck!

Death of a family member

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

anti-atheist rant from an Orthodox Mormon part 2

What do you think of this,

Nathan Young,

No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it.  The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs.  I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance.  The letter was a mockery of atheism.  Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…

Anti-atheist post from an Orthdox Mormon

What do you think of this Facebook comment?

Nathan Young to Jason Torpy,

for once you and I can agree on something.  We should disrespect beliefs that are untenable such as the belief that there is no God.  Indeed for me to respect you Jason, I cannot respect your belief in non-belief in atheism.  Your atheism comes across as arrogrance, smugness, and self righteous.  Indeed after reading "An Open Letter to My Religious Friends" I penned one…
