Glen is correct in his analogy to comic book characters. I've said this before on here. God needs Satan in the same way Dudley Do-Right needs Snidely Whiplash, Batman needs the Joker, and Bugs Bunny needs Elmer Fudd. You can't be a story book hero without having a bad guy to battle. Is it logical in the case of a purportedly omniscient and omnipotent being? Of course not! But it makes for good bed time reading to the kiddies to scare the crap out of them.

The fear of hell was the final thing that kept me theist. Then I found out how Christianity was an evolution of ancient astrology and conglomeration of pagan traditions. Even as a devout believer, I couldn't understand why the heck God let the Devil exist in the first place?

Glen - That is exactly right. It is exactly interpreting the delusions of a madman ... And what's WORSE is arguing about that delusion. It is the same as playing by their rules ON their field.

Stormi - that's what I'm saying too. You'd think Satan would give sinners a high five and send them on their way to do more sinning. It's like calling the cops evil because the persecute bad guys.

This is like arguing about the motives of comic book characters of the characters in some psychotic person's delusion. The author can twist and turn away from rational explanations. Does anyone require proof that a delusion is a delusion? Does anyone who is sane have to disprove it and will the psychotic person find a way to be unpersuaded by reason?

Good question. The church teaches that "Satan" wants you to do bad and be away from "God". So if you're bad all your life, wouldn't you be rewarded by Satan in Hell for doing what he wanted? I was always told sin makes him happy. If you're a sinner, and never ask for forgiveness and end up in Hell, Satan would probably reward you for making him happy right? He's got control over Hell anyway.
If it actually existed, though.

Cuz God is all powerful and he only sifts out the bad guys for punishment. Satan'll take what he can get. If he could get to the good ones he would do that too.
