Things are beyond ridiculous in this country. Even if someone believes in god and believes god hates gays--or he's at the very least opposed to gay marriage--why don't they just go live their own lives and praise jesus as they will and let god deal with the gays in his own way? Better yet, why not actually do something positive with that god loving energy, like feed the hungry and clothe the poor? Why are gays so high on the list of things god want's them to deal with? It's hypocritical to think gays marrying will ruin the sanctity of their heterosexual marriage. They're perfectly capable of doing that all on their own. Check out the divorce rates in this country some time. It's about 50%. And yet, they're free to divorce and marry again and again, as many times as they like. All because they're marrying the opposite sex. I wish they'd look around and realize, its not gays marrying that will ruin this country--it's already ruined and this is just a diversion tactic to get them to focus on what *isn't* the problem. Republicans want less government involvement in *their* lives, but more government involvement in the lives of everyone else. And all of it based on the perceived will of god. And guess what, god will never say they're wrong to discriminate against gays, because god never says anything. So if they're waiting on god to tell them to stop being bigots, they'll go to their graves bigots. Bigots in the name of god. If he was real, he wouldn't be impressed.

booklover, you're absolutely right.  I realized I was condemned to eternal damnation when I practiced companion planting in my garden, per the instructions of that godless, heathen, blasphemous, and devil inspired book, Rodale's Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening. Having violated the eternal and unchanging word of god by ignoring the proscription in Leviticus 19:19, and planting pole beans with my sweet corn, it was only a foreseeable matter of time before I became a barbaric libertine who would accept the idea that another human being, whose sexual orientation is different from mine, should nevertheless have the same rights, privileges, and responsibilities as I do. Next thing you know, I'll have reached the depths of degradation by wearing a cotten/polyester blend shirt to work.  Ohhhhhh, the humanity!!!!!

"Better yet, why not actually do something positive with that god loving energy, like feed the hungry and clothe the poor?" - It's much easier to demonize and condemn people than it is to help people.  And fun.  And it provides a source for scapegoats, piling blame on someone else.  Christianity should be renamed "Hypocrisy".

I also love how "they" choose that one thing  out of their book to focus on.  What about not working on the sabbath?  What about not wearing 2 different kinds of cloth at the same time?  What about all the other ridiculous crap?  Pick and choose I guess.  Some "good book".  Ugh.
