Indian skeptic arrested and charged with "Blasphemy" for revealing the secret behind the "miracle" of the cross dribbling "Holy Water"

Sanal Edamaruku, an Indian skeptic, went to Mumbai and revealed that a "miraculous" weeping cross was really just a bit of statuary located near a leaky drain whose liquid reached it by way of capillary action. The local Catholic Church demanded that he retract his statements, and when he refused, they had him arrested for blasphemy.

Incredible! - this is what happens when you give The Catholic Church power.

Read in today's papers about an atheist brethren who has been jailed in Indonesia for speaking the truth!

Apparently it is regarded as blasphemy to be an atheist in that country.

the blasphemy law is like a pair of handcuffs becuase whatever you say there is a religion that feels 'Offenced' by it..they feel offended when you washed the windows and let the people see inside..

Your Holiness,
My name is Tony Carroll, and I live in Palestine, Texas, USA.  I am writing to you about an Indian citizen arrested for blasphemy, name of Sanal Edamaruku,
because he refused to retract his statement that a miraculous statue of Christ was weeping due to capillary action from a nearby leaking
drain. Your Emminence, I respectfully request that the church look into this as the Catholic Church in Mumbai is the one who had him arrested.
I belive the churches time could be better spent in helping the poor, all people really, by living up to the example of Christ. Thank you for having
someone look into this matter.

Thanks, Richard. Above is what I sent to the pope. The site said he should be addressed as "Your Emminence", or "Your Holiness", otherwise the people who screen the e-mails will automatically delete it. Whatever. Their holy man, their rules. For now, at least. IF, and I mean if I get a response from the holy see, I will post it here. Again, thanks for the help.

Tony, to share it, just highlight the text and then copy (control + c) it.  Then just paste (control + v) it into the comment window.  You can practice pasting it using notepad which is in start menu, accessories, notepad.  Thank you for his email, I shall try emailing him and give the results.

I just sent an e-mail to the pope at the vatican about this. I know some lower down perfunctory will intercept it, but I felt strongly enought to try. His address is   benedictxvii@vatican.va  I would share the e-mail with you guys, but I'm not that good at computers. If anyone could tell me, I will post it here.

Yes, and Sanal, while we're at it, please admit that the earth is flat or we will burn your mother.

In the 96th Chapter of the Book of Barnabas:

Jesus answered: 'It is true that God hath so promised, but indeed I am not he, for he is made before me, and shall come after me.'

Needless to say, the Book of Barnabas never made it into the top 100 per the Vatican.  I often thought that the Vatican would be a good name for a vacuum cleaner.
