Here I go again

Get this, we've been talking a lot about how the mainstream media is ignoring us and the Reason Rally.  Today, Tim fucking Tebow gives a sermon to 15,000 people, half the number of people who showed up to the Reason Rally, and it's front page material.

I want to renew our drive to get the Reason Rally reported.  Start sending out your letters, emails, I'd even go so far as to talk to these news anchors if you can do it respectfully.  We're not bitching about the fact that we're not getting attention, all we want is for the mainstream media to acknowledge the existence of one of the most significant events in American history.

As unfortunate as it is, I'm really not all that surprised. Couple the infantile hero worship of sports figures in this country, especially the NFL (National Felony League), with the prevalence of theocratic fascism permeating politics, the media, and civic life, and Voilà. Instant celebrity!

The Roman satirist Juvenal was correct in describing the superficial appeasement of a populace,  which no longer cared about the importance of civic duty, by shallow and meaningless distractions. "Give them bread and circuses."
