The Republican "War on Women" has yet another proponent. No joke, the WTF?'s from the GOP have been coming fast and furious of late, but this one takes the cake!
“Life gives us many experiences…I’ve had the experience of delivering calves, dead and alive. Delivering pigs, dead or alive."
"Georgia State Rep. Terry England compared women seeking abortions of stillborn fetuses to cows and pigs. He was speaking in favor of HR954, which makes it illegal to obtain an abortion after 20 weeks even if the woman is known to be carrying a stillborn fetus or the baby is otherwise not expect to live to term."
"England then decided to say that the argument against abortion must be great if his cockfighting friend is willing to give up cockfighting so that women will stop getting abortions… Said the cockfighting enthusiast, who has been threatened by cockfighting laws, and bristled against them forever until he found his cause in the zygote:
"Mr. Terry, I wanna tell you something. You tell those folks down there, when they quit killing babies, they can have every chicken I’ve got."

Tell members of the Georgia Senate to VOTE NO on HB 954! Find your Senator at http://votesmart.org/.
This is the douchebag who sponsored the bill...
(BTW, this douchebag was a pro-choice Democrat until he "found Jesus" and switched parties)
More GOP logic from Representative Charlice Byrd...

This is from the website of Representative Doug McKillip who sponsored the bill:
WE DID IT! SWEEPING PRO-LIFE LEGISLATION PASSES!
Yesterday was a big day. In the final minutes on the final day of the Legislative Session, we managed to pass the most sweeping pro-life legislation in Georgia history.
HB 954, better known as the "Fetal pain" bill will end elective abortions from taking place after 20 weeks of pregnancy. This legislation provides for the first ever ban on barbaric late term abortions in Georgia.
Despite the best efforts of the liberals and their vicious attacks, we succeeded in saving the lives of the innocent unborn.
I just want to thank you for your prayers and support through this fight. I couldn't have done it without the power of prayer and the encouragement I received from so many.
Due to our efforts, thousands of innocent lives will be saved each year in Georgia.
With your continued support, you have my word that I will continue working to pass sweeping conservative reforms that reflect our values.
Thanks again and God Bless,
Doug

Comment by Joan Denoo on April 8, 2012 at 12:14pm I need to reward my former statement because it reads as though I am disgusted with Richard. While writing that comment, I was looking at the smiling photo of Georgia Representative Terry England (Republican, Auburn). Terry England, you have no idea the emotional and physical harm you do to women by that legislation! Families do not benefit from such barbaric legislation. Society reverts back to the Stone Age. Remember, we did not leave the Stone Age because we ran out of stones, we thought our ways to better living.
Comment by Pat on April 8, 2012 at 11:00am I wouldn't hold a lot of hope for SCOTUS doing anything sensible. 6 Catholics are on the Court, and 5 tend to vote together as a block - Kennedy, Scalia, Alito, Thomas, and Roberts. Kennedy is considered a "swing" vote, but I'm not that convinced. It was, after all, Kennedy, who delivered the majority opinion in the recent case allowing the police to strip search anyone in custody - even for the most minor infraction. Thomas votes however Scalia and Roberts tell him to, and Alito walks pretty much hand in hand with Scalia on over 85% of the opinions. And none of these individuals are going away anytime soon.
it really is time for the SCOTUS to revisit this issue. abortion is legal, yet many states are effectively making them illegal, or impossible. it seems to me that the Court needs to re-confirm the legality of abortion, or make it altogether illegal. if RvW is upheld, then all these ridiculous pieces of legislation need to be thrown out. if RvW is overturned, then we'll know it's time to move to another more reasonable country. either way, let's clarify this once and for all.

Comment by Joan Denoo on April 8, 2012 at 1:52am Your frame of chickens for human health is about as crazy as I have ever heard. Your reasoning is so far away from good sense I just cringe. My heart just goes out to the women in your district. May your god help them because you surely do not.

Comment by Richard ∑wald on April 7, 2012 at 6:06pm As the so-called Republican "War on Women" becomes more and more difficult to distinguish from an Orwellian horror story, the Georgia House of Representatives has upped the ante once again. After a 14 hour day of fist-fighting lobbyists and a Democratic walk-out, Theocratic Republicans passed HB 954. Known by Republicans as the "Fetal Pain Bill," and by everyone else as the "Women as Livestock Bill," HB 954 prohibits all abortions after 20 weeks -- including the removal of a potentially stillborn fetus.
Comment by Joan Denoo on March 16, 2012 at 3:30pm Oh my god! I cannot believe what I just heard! cows, pigs, chickens and cockfighting! What has that to do with abortion? Do his wife, mother, daughters, if he had any, count? What if they were faced with death in childbirth of mother or baby?
Dogly, you are right, but in addition, take away his male genitals. He clearly does not know the difference between life and death for women of child bearing age.
