I read and hear quite a lot about donations for cancer research.

I think that donating to a cause like looking for the cure to cancer, aids, diabetes, and many others is a very noble and caring gesture. But today, a thought popped into my head that stems from a cynical coversation about the government I just had.

That thought was: Who is doing the research and where are they doing the research?

We all know that pharmaceutical companies are in it for profit. Are they controlling the majority of the research? If so, does anyone know which charities give their money to only non-pharmaceutical labs?

Thanks,
Cane

@ AnneT, yes I had heard about it and it made me sick to my stomach. It boggles my mind when religious people do stupid things like that.

btw: you probably heard that the American Cancer Society was recently quite rude to the FBB:

Every University applies for research dollars, as do all hospitals and non-profit groups.

A scientist has just built a working nano-bot so delivery of meds and cures for cancer are not far off.

No clue, but I do know that all of the big cancer centers in U.S. do research--Dana Farber, Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson, Sloan Kettering--you could try there.
