Comment by roland707 on January 30, 2012 at 10:43pm My dept. manager is Catholic. I think he goes to mass at ,like, christmas. But every Friday, he eats fish. When people ask about it I say "He's still worried that some nun is gonna whack him with a ruler." He laughs, and then tells how mean nuns are for ten minutes. haha
Eric, hilarious!
so i talked with her about this. she pretty much ignored what i had replied and simply stated that "it's a good list for all people to abide by." i told her that we would have to agree to disagree. then she informed me of something that i was unaware of - the Catholics have their own version of the Ten Commandments. i was raised Catholic and i didn't know this. yet after perusing the list, i do indeed rememeber that version from my upbringing. how funny is it that Moses' Commandments weren't good enough for the Catholic Church. they needed to doctor it to fit into their own dogma. now isn't that just too perfect??!!
Comment by roland707 on January 29, 2012 at 11:02pm Did you know? It aggravates the crap out of me that people who have the same beliefs as 90% of the population want to act like they are persecuted and isolated. Craziness.
Yeah I've heard those told to me by theists as well. Sigh ...
Mr. M, please be sure to post the link for that blog post here, ok?
Jason, yes i did. i was hoping that it was part of a mass email but unfortunately i was the only recipient.
i should add, although it is not included in what i posted here, that the beginning of this email stated that this was created by our friend, Andy Rooney. i wonder if the author of the original email would have sent it had they known that Andy was an Atheist.
Comment by Jason Fleming on January 29, 2012 at 10:01am So Matthew, did you send your mother the same response you posted here? You could ask her to "pass it on".
Comment by Loren Miller on January 28, 2012 at 12:23pm Anytime anyone wants to insist that the US is somehow a christian nation, just remind them of Article VI of the Constitution and the Treaty of Tripoli, particularly Article XI of that document. Usually shuts the fools up.
(lauging my ass off)
thanks Kellie, i needed that.
