Every year I have to waste many precious days attending xtian events like Christmas. It's a one big gigantic nonsense. It feels like I was wrong about something, but I'm not, so that's an absurd. Jean Paul Sartre said: "we are nothing and in action become conscious of that original nothingness". My Christmas tree should be labeled: "made of nothingness".

Comment by Mike Haynes on December 6, 2011 at 4:44pm I could do without all the bother of decorating and gift buying, but getting together with friends and some family is always a good time.
Comment by Richard K. Emms on December 6, 2011 at 7:01am I agree with John. I haven't had a dead tree in my house in over 20 years. I have learned to enjoy every day. I live alone, and relish every aspect of that. Late December is a couple of paid days off. That's celebration enough. Time for my annual six pack of Guinness.
Comment by annet on December 5, 2011 at 7:02pm Nihilism aside, you could take John's advice, or do as many atheists do and enjoy it for the food. Consider a festivus pole instead of a tree, those really do celebrate nothingness.
Comment by John Camilli on December 5, 2011 at 4:24am Sooo, why do you put up a christmas tree? Why celebrate the holidays when you don't agree with them? I don't. It's just that easy.

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .

'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day. however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more. in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.
I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).
THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
