I am not an atheist, agnostic, anti-theist or a secularist. The measure of belief or disbelief in a force/consciousness/presence in the universe greater than me does not define who I am or how I behave. To call me an atheist holds as much reason and meaning as calling me a non-astrologer, a non-alchemist, an unbeliever in Zeus, Odin, Horace.
I am a human who tries every day to be intellectually honest, to cherish and practice reason and critical thought and to denounce absurdity when it is taken seriously. The decisions I make are done so with the full talents of my thought and emotion and their consequences are mine alone for which to answer.
I am that I am.
(I do not post this to undermine any members of this site or even the site's name itself. I simply feel, among us unbelievers, it is an important point to raise: Is it necessary to define ourselves by what we don't believe. I welcome all comments and thoughts regarding this point of view.)
