Why 9/11 brings out the worst in my family

A little background: brother is a reverend, rapper for Jesus ( i swear) mother Facebook page might as well include the entire new testament.

My whole family us aware I am an atheist. Anytime we speak religion, I'm usually met with condescension. Pretty funny most of the time. Today though, just got under my skin.

Brothers Facebook post:

Regardless of What u believe or think happened on this day 10 years ago
Real people died and real friends and families suffered but out of that tragedy ment for evil came good people came Together in one accord and a call back to God was rung through the nation remember those people and remember the same God who turned tragedy and sadness into love and respect is still On the throne

Yes, lets all remember that the most important thing that came from a religiously fanatic homicidal terrorist attack, was a call to arms for other religions ( i.e Christianity) to become more religiously fanatic themselves.

I want to send this is a reply, but one, I don't want to deal with the backlash today. And two, I really find it disrespectful to be talking about stuff like this ( IE religious/ philosophical differences) when we should all be honoring and respecting those who did suffer. Of course my brother has no issue throwing his "god" all over the internet and taking glory for his "god" for this tragic event. Any thought on if I should reply?

Anyone else seen stuff like this today? Be nice to know I'm not alone in feeling this way.

So I told him what was up..I said they weren't banned, they just weren't allowed to rant on the microphone. I also said about 1/3rd of the victims were not xtians. He was a dumbass whose reply was also dumbass-ish, something about other faiths should be allowed to speak. There I kept my mouth shut because I wanted to go off on him, I didn't want to be disrespectful on that day. Thankfully my mom stepped up and said if people wanted, they could go to their nearest church and pray all they want. I love my mom!

Obviously, they aren't posting useful stuff like family bbq Saturday or cousin Ellie had a baby yesterday. It doesn't sound like you'll be missing much by putting them on your ignore list. If they really care, they can always call or text you when cousin Ellie has her baby or they are getting together to celebrate with food.
