Bad attempt at a joke...

Saw this post from a friend (who I'd guess doesn't seriously believe in god anyway). I'm guessing the moral is that there shouldn't be freedom of speech. It's hard to reply to something so stupid, but I'm interested in hearing your ideas...

A College Professor stood on his chair and said, "If GOD really exists, knock me off my chair." Nothing happened. The class was quiet. He said "See? I'll give it a couple more minutes". A Marine Vet stood up, punched him in the face knocking him out and off the chair, then sat back down. As the Professor came to he looked at his student and said, "WHY'D YOU DO THAT?" He said, "GOD was busy protecting my buddies still fighting for your right to say and do stupid stuff like this, so HE SENT ME

Comment by Pat on September 19, 2011 at 9:46am: @Kris - They may have infected the forums you hang out in, but there are plenty of these, as you correctly label "champions of military violence" types, that spew out emails like this all the time that the god fearing, Obama hating, xenophobic, neo-cons love to champion and pass along as "pearls of wisdom." I used to get them on a not infrequent basis from neo-con acquaintances of mine. That is, until I pointed out to them that which I previously posted here. For some strange reason, the emails stopped coming.

Comment by Kris King on September 19, 2011 at 9:10am: Pat - in my experience, the closest most of these champions of military violence get is playing "Call of Duty" or "Medal of Honour" on the XBox :) They tend to be frustrated, late-teen early-twenty somethings who still live with their comfortably middle-class conservative parents, in their comfortable homes, and spend their spare time trolling internet forums threatening "all you liberal atheist fags" with a smiting from the almighty.

Or maybe that's just the forums I hang out on? :)

I'm impressed because he didn't even talk to the mother of his son to tell her he'd knocked her up – he sent one of his flunkies - he was probably to busy smiting some hapless tribe because they hadn't sliced off the end of their dicks or ate hummus with their fingers.

Comment by Pat on September 10, 2011 at 10:46am: One thing that bothers me about posts like this, and hundreds of others of this moronic crap I have seen (besides the obvious anti-intellectual bent) is that in using a vet to promote their ignorance, it's always, Always, ALWAYS a marine. You never read one of these unlettered pieces of garbage where it's an airmen, sailor, soldier or coast guardsman. When I see something like this, I've got a wad of $$$ (with 5 to 1 odds), that it was written by some 33 year old chicken shit, whose closest military experience was watching John Wayne in The Sands of Iwo Jima in his parents' basement and has never been on a date.
