Also: be sure to run Windows Update - this should be in your "start" menu, or try http://update.microsoft.com. This should be done regularly anyway

Do you have antivirus software? be sure to run a scan, it may or may not find anything.

For starters, you may want to try an alternative browser.  Internet Explorer is notorious for being vulnerable to strange hacks.

Try installing and running Google  Chrome, or

Firefox, both are free.

If I hit the back button, I use internet explorer, several times it will stop leaving.

What page does it go to for you - is it advertising?  Also, what browser are you using? It could be some type of spyware or virus.

It comes up for a few seconds then goes to another page.
