There is simply not enough death in this world. Everywhere I look, I behold:


- resuscitation classes

- pension schemes

- fertility clinics

- vaccines

- charities combating famine


I ask you now: how is the overpopulation, the depletion of our resources, the mass pollution of our globe going to be dealt with if everyone simply keeps defending life?


Forsooth, anti-life is a term of which to be proud; for we, the rational, should at all times strive to uphold the ideal of an ecosystem void of that most despicable organism, the human.


I say ergo, let us give it up for death! Nay, let us propagate it!

It must by now surely have become clear that 'life' was a great mistake. Down with failed concepts! Down with existence!

I say sacrifice all necessary life for progress. Let that be our greatest good, instead of the preservation of life. Then at least we might get to some type of existence that we can tolerate spending a lifetime in.

I rented a recent Werner Herzog movie called My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done. Which in itself was a pretty great movie. In the extras there was a short film called Plastic Bag, which he narrates. An incredibly surprising and creative story about a used plastic bag. The closing line reflects both our thoughts on the topic of death, and the rejection of the sempiternal search for the fountain of youth, that atheists are just as attached to as the religious, which never ends baffling me:

I still have hope that I will meet her again, and if I do, I would tell her just one thing: "I wish you had created me so that I could die."

Birth and death are but the bookends of our human experience, and the more we fight death, the more disease and illness comes to define our lives.
