The catholic asshats are out in force at Pharyngula - they are posting massive comments 40K+ words of pope drivel in an attempt to crash the Science Blogs servers. It's time for a little activism folks - these are deliberate attacks on the SB servers. Support Professor Myers and the First Amendment. Please contact President Robert Bruininks at bruin001@umn.edu

I have been following the comment thread over at http://de-conversion.com/2008/07/22/i-never-wanted-to-be-an-atheist/ - and ran across the following exchange (names have been deleted to protect the guilty):

Wow, the tone here is so interesting. Such great anger and pompousness, against God himself, even. Hmmm. He is not going to accept any of your excuses on Judgment Day. He is going to show you all of the ways he revealed himself to you quite… Continue

Recently Sam Harris conducted an online survey about belief. He asked that responders to the surveys (4) be either atheists or Christian. The results are fairly predictable - but a few surprises. You can see the results here:

He is described in 'The Call of Cthulhu' as " a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind." How cool is…

If god is omniscient he knows everything, including my disbelief. If god is immutable the he cannot change his mind. So why would a Christian pray in the first place, especially for a heathen like me? If god has these attributes – he can’t change his mind about anything. This is also where the Bible contradicts the very nature of the god who inspired it. So message to the Christians – no thanks on the prayer thing.
