Justice Department to appeal National Day of Prayer ruling

In response to last week's ruling by U.S District Judge Barbara Crabb that deemed the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional, the Justice Department has filed an appeal against the decision.

National Day of Prayer Ruling Causes Controversy

A fierce debate is raging over the decision by a Wisconsin district judge that deemed the forthcoming National Day of Prayer, scheduled for May 6th, as unconstitutional.



On May 5, 1988, then-President Ronald Reagan signed a bill into law that enabled the nomination of the first thursday of May each year as the National Day of Prayer. At the time, the bill received bipartisan support but has since been challenged by a variety of groups.

I work in healthcare in a long term care facility and I deal with death on a regular basis. About a year ago the opportunity arose for me to take a palliative care course through my work.  I enjoyed it for the most part.
