I was greatly amused last week to see that my husband pulled out "Baby's First Mythos" to read to our son at bedtime.

I'm sick of all this faith, belief, blah blah blah that my mother seems to have taken up. Catholics never cared about that stuff until the Protestants made it fashionable, or even worse, patriotic. It's hot and I'm tired. I'm tired all the time, though. Even in perfect weather I don't have the energy to accomplish much.



The problem is, I can't start a conversation about it without pseudo-medicine inserting itself and getting in the way. I realized this while making friends in the chatroom - I've never made friends with another atheist before. I have several nonbelieving friends, including one outspoken atheist, but she and I aren't friends because of atheism. We're friends because of RPGs, and I learned about her worldview well after the fact.
