The Roman Catholic Church is still a powerful institution, but its influence and relative weight in the world have been steadily diminishing in the last 100 years or so. Con un cierto retraso, como es habitual, nos está llegando al sur de Europa el eco de lo que en los Estados Unidos se viene denominando “Culture Wars”, pero que aquí deberíamos tildar más castizamente de “Reacción” sin paliativos, puesto que no se trata de otra cosa cuando se convoca a los convencidos a una manifestación multitudinaria tras otra cuyo sentido es político, antidemocrático y antihistórico aunque se disfrace de religioso.

There are still many people in the world who for religious or superstitious reasons maintain what we may call "strict sexual morals", and who consider "sinful" many practices to which they attach a label of "perversion".
