Every year, the Religious Right pushes "Pulpit Freedom Sunday". They encourage pastors to endorse candidates from the pulpit. This sort of electioneering violates the IRS 501(c)(3) code, and should result in revocation of tax-exempt status. http://www.change.org/petitions/the-president-of-the-united-states-revoke-tax-exempt-status-of-political-churches

went to bed and woke up in Iraq. Judge Mark Martin must be impeached for harming plaintiff Ernest Perce's First Amendment rights. Based on egregious pro-sharia bias, Judge Martin dismissed assault charges against Talaag Elbayomy, citing sharia and noting that in countries across the muslim world, Perce would have been executed for insulting the prophet of Islam.

Prof. Boghossian argues some of the most intelligent, clear, and simple reasons behind the problems of faith. I wanted to share this with you because I thought you would enjoy hearing someone make a concise and intellectual argument about what a professor should bring to a classroom discussion, and what should be left out of what he calls "the adult's table."…

I think there are a couple of reasons why people believe in gods, some people fall squarely into individual categories. But most seem to be a combination of different reasons. I'm not a shrink or a sociologist, this is just from my own experience:

In 1956, the United States adopted a different motto, "In God We Trust." This motto, instead of emphasizing the unity of this country, has served to divide us between believers and nonbelievers. It is a product of the same Cold-War-era "Us vs. Them" mentality that led to McCarthyism and the HUAC. It is…
