My mom does not respect my non-belief. She insists I go to church with her because all of a sudden her 'house rule' is that "As for me and my house we worship the Lord." To make matters worse the sermon from yesterday was focused on "Bringing children up in the worship" and that you should force you children to go to church. In fact, he said you should have them miss school before they miss church. I'm becoming increasing angry, frustrated and resentful of her. I never had anything against… Continue

Well about a week ago I came out and told my mom I was an Atheist. She didn't go off like I expected her to but she is none too pleased to say the least. She and I had a debate on Sunday when she had woke me up (ironically to go to church) and asked me then and there if I believed in God. Instinct told me to lie and say yes, but she said don't say it if it isn't true and I confessed. She heard me out and tried to argue me down. A couple of days later she asked me if I was ok with the fact that… Continue

When it takes you forever to try to reason things out? My brain is just taking its sweet ass time to process even simple things. I've been stuggling to comprehend stuff since Monday.

I would like to read more books about Atheism and also some about sciences so I can understand and know more about what scientist are discovering. I only know of the basics of subjects such as evolution and the big bang theory. But I want to know what other things scientists are saying about our origins and get a deeper understanding about what little I do know. Does anyone have any Atheist authors or books about any of these things? Hopefully in the form of an ebook or article? I can't go to… Continue

Before anyone completely flies off the handle at me, I support the Gay and Lesbian community. I have no problem with gay marriage, gay rights, or gay adoption, in fact I encourage it ESPECIALLY gay adoption. There are so many children in this world who need a family who can provide them with love and good home and I disagree with anybody who wants to deny a child a family based off something as trivial as sexual preference.
This post is basically asking others opinions of the idea… Continue

The day before yesterday I told my dad that I was an Atheist via txt msg. I'll summarize how the conversation went.
After I told him that he said that he was shocked and asked me why. I recited my de-conversion story and told him that I had also read the Bible and that it was full of contradictions and asked him why he worshiped a god who demands the murder of innocent people. He asked me what I was talking about and I quoted three instances where god wanted people murdered for… Continue

I'm interested in this guy at school who is a Christian. He and I are really just friends now and I would like to know if he might want to date. I haven't told him that I'm Atheist and I haven't told him that I liked him (I'm getting to it) but have any of you every heard of or been in this type of relationship? I feel that he himself would be fine with it but I wouldn't want to date him if it would cause friction and distance between him and his parents.
Any thoughts or ideas?

I was raised Christian, Baptist to be exact. I come from a very religious family, my grandmother was an active member in the church and taught me much of what I know about god. We would go to mission (which is like bible study) which I enjoyed only because they had fresh donuts. Since I was a little kid, I was never big on praying nor had I ever developed this love of god that Christians claim to have. I was however very much into natural and historical science (nothing like Chemistry and other… Continue
