I Need Some Advice Please Read

Two months ago I met a girl.  We get along really really well.  We went on a date and talked, it seemed like, all night.  When we got to our respective homes we called each other and kept talking.  Throughout the week we talk to each other and meet up for drinks, but sex has never been a part of it.  I think we both want to see this relationship start slow and build into something beautiful.  I have never met a woman who isn't turned off by my confidence (I can get a little cocky, okay, a…

Esquire Article and my response

Someone posted a link to an Esquire article by Shane Claiborne on my facebook page. I will link it here.http://www.esquire.com/features/best-and-brightest-2009/shane-claiborne-1209. My response was, "I think what Shane Claiborne doesn't realize is that atheists don't believe in God because they hate Christians, they don't believe in God because it coincides with Evolution. Seeing how hypocritical… Continue

The Meaning of Life/True Happiness

How can any human pretend to know the meaning of life? How can someone know exactly why we are here and what we become, and what happens when we die? How do we know what happiness means for everyone? We cannot know any of this. The only person that can know this is that person to themselves. Nobody else can tell us what is wrong to us or what makes us happy. In life we make general rules as to what is not expected from society in regards to morals, but what makes someone happy is left up to the… Continue

A big load off my shoulders

So today I was sitting at the dinner table with some close friends who are religious. We started talking about something about God, and they said, "Well, you don't believe in God anyway!" What surprised me the most is that they knew I was atheist. I had never told them. I never realized that they read most of my notes on Facebook or read my posts for that matter. When I asked them how that made them feel they said, "You're fun to hang out with, religion doesn't have to ruin that. Plus you never… Continue

Reading the Bible

So I was reading the Bible on SecularWeb and have come (no pun intended) across some lines that made me laugh.

18The woman also with whom man shall lie with seed of copulation, they shall both bathe themselves

in water, and be unclean until the even.

In other words after you have sex you are considered unclean, and must bathe in water. First of all, is water the only thing necessary to clean yourself? And I hope everybody… Continue

Conversation with an idiot!!

So I was on Facebook on an Atheist page and some christian posts a photo with bible verses on it and starts spewing religious BS while trying to appear smart. Here is the conversation below.

Christian:

Anyone who claims religion is the greatest source of evil or war in history needs to wake up. In the grand scope of history, religious conflict is a single drop in the lake of territorial, economic, racial, and expansionist wars. Human greed and…

Those internationals!!!

So I work at a hotel where we have a mix of US and International workers. Last night a girl from Bulgaria and a guy from the US who used to be in the Marines started talking about religion. The American guy said something about Jesus saving his life by sending him to the army, and the Bulgarian girl said "You actually believe in that crap?" He said, "What crap?" She said, "The Bible". He said, "Yes, it's the word of God" The Bulgarian girl walked away. I think she lost respect for the guy. It… Continue

The Stigma

The stigma that because I do good things must mean I am religious makes me angry. I was raised by a mother who was a nun. She wanted to have kids so she asked the Pope to absolve her of her dedication, which he did. She then adopted us as she was unable to have kids herself due to a disease I won't name. Anyway, just because I was raised by her everyone seems to think that my good deeds are religiously intended. All my friends know I am atheist, but my family does not, except for my father. It… Continue
