OK - so I have been attending a Zen center and doing koans and zazen (sitting meditation) there for the past 6 months or so. I definitely like the calming and "centering" of awareness that I get from meditation of various types. I attach no "supernatural" attributes to this. Good Nova program on the ID crazies trying to make creationism appear as science and get it into the Dover, PA school system. OK - so I stopped drinking a little over 7 months ago. {Works for me - don't judge :-) } Anyway - I occasionally go to AA meetings during lunch just to scare me into staying on the wagon. Today there was so much talk of God and how you have to come to believe in God - and the fact that it always ends in an Our Father - Ugghhh - but AA literature always says its not based on any particular belief system and that the "higher power" can be anything.
