I just spam filtered myself. I sent an e-mail to myself-- from one of my e-mail addresses to another-- and it got filtered.

In his carefully-crafted movie, Mr. Gore leads off with what many consider the most persuasive data: 650,000 years of correlation between CO2 and warming/cooling trends. Problem is, that data actually shows that the trends in atmospheric CO2 trail the warming-- by a few hundred years. Clearly CO2 is not in the climatic driver's seat.
I have seen a response that goes something like this: "OK, so CO2 didn't cause those temperature variations, but it was a positive feedback, amplifying… Continue

Anthropogenic Global Warming fact of the day:
More than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition agreeing with the following statement:
"We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.
There is… Continue

A: Almost anything.
OK, this one's a major peeve of mine. Free is one of the most deceptive words in the English language, and should really be retired. We need to find something to replace it with. What "free" means is simply that the person who pays for a product or service and the person who consumes it are two different people. This is the idea that made such a mess of the Soviet bloc. It's the reason NASA once paid nearly a million dollars to transport 3 bolts from Texas to… Continue

You can't help but be stunned by the power of propaganda. Nowhere is this more apparent then in the "environmental" movement, which, in its extreme form, is a religion. Let me give two examples.
First, this asshole:
Mention the name "John Christy" in any group of greens and they will beat each other to a stupor competing to inform you that this middle-class researcher is a sell-out, bought and paid-for by big oil. Meanwhile they… Continue

This morning on my way to work I found a cell phone, just laying there on the ground. So I picked it up, hung on to it and called the last person the phone's owner had called, who relayed my info. I met up with my neighbor Diane when I got home, and she had a bag of truffles for me! That was so nice!

Ever notice that someone who's Cherokee is almost always said to be "Cherokee Indian", but you never see someone "Swedish Scandinavian" or "Scottish Caucasian"?

For the first time in history we can seriously ponder the concept of creating a universe
. OK, so we won't be creating a universe in the lab anytime soon, but we might soon find out that it is possible, at least in principle. And we can now ask-- scientifically-- if ours was created by an advanced civilization in another universe.
So here's the obvious question: If you created a universe and it goes on to develop intelligent life, what do you have the right to do with your… Continue

This is the mailbox platform where I live. They dropped off the phonebooks about a week and a half ago. Nobody has even cracked them open yet!

You know what I love? Zombies! I can't get enough of them. Romero, Snider (yes, I like Zack Snider's Dawn remake. Don't give me your purist crap, it's a great movie), Brooks, Shaun of the Dead, Undead (great Aussie film).
What is it about the End Of The World that I love so much? On Snider's Dawn DVD, there's a great bonus short called "We Interrupt This Broadcast". It's presented as a series of news break-ins where you just watch the world totally unravel over the course of a… Continue

I found out the other day that someone I've known for almost a year went to the same high school I did. And we met fairly far from that school.
Well, today, she told me that half that school no longer exists. The school I went to was-- was
-- comprised of two buildings, the "lower building" and the "upper building" (the lower building was actually physically lower than the upper building; they were on a hill). Turns out the lower building got knocked the fuck down to make space… Continue
