Best Jack Chick Ever

While rummaging around my closet the other day, I came across a page from a Jack Chick comic that, if I remember correctly, I obtained and decided to hang onto back in 1984.  It’s every bit as funny today as it was then.

It got me to thinking: is this really what the Jack Chicks of…

Creation Science Fair: Suggested Projects

The Twin Cities Creation Science Assocation recently held their annual Home School Science Fair in Roseville, Minnesota.  This is a great idea, and I would like to help out our budding young creation scientists with a few ideas for projects for next year's fair.

Biblical Ant Farm: The ant farm is always a winner, in any science fair. People just love to watch our little four-legged friends bustling about in their underground… Continue

Christians Invented Everything

I was thinking about (click here to read rest of post)

No, no, no. Just kidding.

I would never pull the bait-and-switch tactic here. I respect the membership of Atheist Nexus too much, despite none of you having an absolute basis for morality. If I'm going to take up space on the blogroll, I will try to write something substantial exclusively for this site.

The Blair Witch Project--a Belated Review

You may wonder why I would think it appropriate to write about an 11-year-old movie in a blog on Atheist Nexus.

As for waiting 11 years, that is merely a function of not having gotten around to seeing the movie until last night. I do apologize for the lack of timeliness, but I can’t see everything when it comes out. I’m not omniscient or omnipresent, after all.

But as for having relevance to…

Computer Security For Fundamentalist Christians

For those of you who don't already know, AiG stands for Answers in Genesis, a popular creationist website. For comedic purposes I have chosen to confuse it with a popular anti-virus program, resulting in the following:

Dear God: I'm So Glad You Love Me More Than Others

As a resident of the Pacific Northwest, and occasional visitor to what is left of Mount St. Helens after the big blast in 1980, I was very interested to watch two specials that aired Tuesday night on Oregon Public Broadcasting.

The first was a very interesting look at how life has returned to much of the blast zone, a return that defied the expectations of scientists in the speed with which it happened. Which is not to…

Religion: Not Funny

There is a fundamental humorlessness about fundamentalist religion that gives lie to the claim that God brings joy and atheism is bleak and dreary. I first experienced this shortly after high school, many years ago, when I ran into a friend on the campus of the local community college. This was a friend with whom I had shared many a laugh, a young man with a wry sense of the absurd and a sense of humor that was to be admired. On this day, he had his…
