Homeland Security. Thanks God!

State Rep. Wants Providence Acknowledged "by law"



LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A lawmaker says the state's Homeland Security office should be crediting God with keeping the state safe.



State Rep. Tom Riner, a Southern Baptist minister who was instrumental in establishing that requirement in 2006, disapproves of the fact that Homeland Security doesn't currently mention God in its mission statement or on its Web site.

"oh my god" [explicit lyrics]

I don't have the literary skills that most others on this site have, nor the time to do research.



But I only wanted to write a blurb tonight on the small bits of text we/I speak on occasion without really thinking about them. Even in my Godlessness, I find myself still saying "Oh my god" and "bless you" (when people sneeze) at times.

When God became my invisible friend.

I've been wondering for some time now, when did I start believing in God? I know exactly when I stopped, like most people on this site. It's a lot harder to break the spell of culture and what I learned from my family after some 30 years of being immersed in the idea of Jesus.

Finally a place to be me.

Thanks to The Good Atheists for having a link to this website. I've blogged my random musings on religion and politics on my MySpace, but I always have the feeling I'm alienating myself from my friends who seem content with just cruising through life. And especially my friends who are Christians, but not the bible-thumping, proselytizing types.
