I identify as Lesbian, Secular Humanist / Atheist and am an Officer of our local PFLAG support group (Parents, Family/Friends of Lesbians And Gays). I have a question about how a church sect can say they 'accept Atheists'.
In this small Arizona town, only United church of Christ (UCC) claims to be 100% Open-And-Affirming, meaning they welcome, embrace and empower ALL peoples including those of diverse sexual orientation and gender variations. UCC apparently also has the…Continue
I signed up for Dish Network (it's a satellite TV company) here in Yuma AZ. The new customer package was just $19.99/month and included extended Movie stations like HBO, Starz etc and entailed about 200 stations. After 3 months, "New Customer Promotions" ended & if I continued with Dish, I was forced to choose continuing that Extensive Package *at normal prices* (very co$$tly!) or choose another 'Package'. I chose the Budget Package which has about 50 stations and now costs me $40/month.…Continue

*The new bible game show! Expensive and clever marketing aspect utilizing fun and competition while brainwashing and encouraging ppl to read bibles more…Continue

Anybody else have an substance abuse addicted friend, family member who turned to god, religion to help them stay sober? Sadly, she, like many others, 'found god' when she was her very bottom and it appears her new-found religious beliefs are helping her stay clean. I am close to her (we've weathered her hard times in the past) and in order for us to stay current with one another, we peruse our Facebook happenings. She posts daily about how god and jesus are great and how life is wonderful…Continue
Hello, I just joined Atheist Nexus. I'm grateful to have found a safe environment of like-minded peoples :)
In this age of Internet Surfing... have any of you suffered negative effects when others 'google' your name (for whatever reason) and see that you are a member of this forum? This Yuma AZ is a good-ole-boy small town and I've already encountered bigotry from being an 'out' Lesbian.
If anyone has experienced such, can you please suggest how one might handle…Continue
