Genesis Women's Conference In the Creationist Museum???

I'm amused by this account of a couple of skeptics who attended the Women's Conference held at the 'Creation Museum'

http://ht.ly/l1IwE

Sounds like they were enlightened.

Especially at the attempts to deaden their intelligence and skepticism.

Off Side and Holding

In general, when it comes to women I am slow to recognize any signal even when as obvious as a stick in the eye. Being the typical dumb guy, that any woman would turn me down registered as a clear sign that I wasn't trying hard enough. After a woman told me, "I think you're an ass with no common sense.…

The G in Governor Obviously Stands for God-fearing Rick Perry

Can I tell you how disturbing the news of a government sanctioned event 'The Response: A call to prayer for a nation in crisis' is to me? VERY DISTURBING and I hope for you as well! It goes without saying that praying is a complete waste of time, but also, Christians and non-believers who couldn't give a rat's ass about this, don't understand the basics of separation of church and state.

I get it, that some… Continue

“…use this three-day period to make good choices.”

That is what Gov. Dennis Daugaard of South Dakota, said in a statement today about the latest restriction on abortion that he signed into law.  And by “good choices” he means change your mind and give birth like a good Christian.

If you haven’t made yourself familiar with the law yet, it requires women to wait three days after meeting with the doctor that will perform the…

They Lie, They Lie, They Lie

Abuse Bowl Hoax

The Super Bowl is barely 24 hours away, and people across the country, even other parts of the world, are all gearing up for a marathon of beer, Velveeta topped Fritos, endless commercials (and, oh yeah,  probably a little head banging good ‘ole ‘Merican football, too). And many are also bracing for that annual orgy of misogynistic violence that accompanies it.
Or are they?

Domestic violence is a serious problem.…

To No Man or God: Restating my atheist manifesto for 2010

Okay, I'm jumping the gun a little here. Even for Australia, if only by twelve hours or so. But in the usual bout of New Year's nostalgia and contemplation I was compelled to go back to the very first time I became properly angry about religion - the point where I first arrived at the edge of agnosticism and glanced into the depths of proud, firmly-realised anti-theism. As 2010 looms (no... that makes it sound foreboding. But "dawns" is a bit too flowery, and premature in any case), I am moved… Continue

Deborah Cooper podcast

I did an internet radio/podcast with Deborah Cooper of Sucka Free Dating this week. It was unusual and fun to say the least. You can listen at this link:

The angle was very different than other podcasts I have done since it was more focused on how religion affects relationships and sexuality.

On Why There are More Women than Men

(Note: This was originally intended just for Herculaneum, but I'll also be posting it for the general A|N population)

I was at the gym this morning finishing my morning workout. Today is Monday so naturally it's my heavy lift day and afterward I normally do light cardio on the bike so I can read (switching the load every other day). Today however I wasn't feeling sufficiently exhausted after my routine so I decided to do some heavy running on the treadmill for a few minutes because… Continue

I've been told to stop simply posting teases to my blog and start just posting my writing here. If I hear enough voices against this reposting, I'm willing to hear whatever suggestions people have. I hope you'll still visit my blogger blog and comment there if you like. Thanks for reading.

Chatting with a Mormon Missionary: Take 3

"You are speaking live with Andrew, who is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Information provided in this session is to provide assistance only and is not an official statement of the Church."

Andrew: Hello Angie!

Me: Hi Andrew :)

Andrew: How may i help you today?

(Already I'm impressed with his use of the Shift key! So much better than the last two dear boys.)

Me: I wanted to ask about LDS and women. What… Continue

Yet again, making the line between satire and fundamentalism even blurrier... I present the Brother Steve Winter's Winterband. Just listen to the lyrics before following the link - guaranteed awesomeness.
