Why I Am An Ex-Christian

Ok, so of course I have to start off with why I became a christian in the first place. I was 'saved' when i was 14 at the end of June, right before my first year of high school. During my 6th and 7th grade years, I became very depressed. I had no true interest in life and in was due largely to the fact that I had no plans for my life. I didn't know what I wanted, and basically let everybody else, but myself, make my choices.

Some thoughts

I dont describe myself directly as an Atheist, I describe myself as open minded and logical, if I was alive a thousand years ago I might believe in a God because at the time it might have been the logical thing to believe but now its quite clear there is no supreme power , there is no heaven and there is no hell. Im just wondering how many of you out there are just agnostic, open minded people like me rather then just Atheists because of a different reason.

A First Time Entry Regarding Death, Loss & "Why"

My office recently lost a co-worker to a tragic accident. The funeral is tomorrow, so it is still pretty fresh on the brain. This is the second death in the office in as many weeks, and being a big corporation, management decided to bring in a representative from our Employee Assistance Program. Dear Yahweh, why does nearly everything you do make no sense?!

I've asked several theists this, and I am certainly not the first Non-christian to come up with this idea.

Why did God create us in the first place?

1. He knew we'd do naughty things to anger him all the time. (rape, murder...no wait those things appease the God of Abraham.)

2. He doesn't need to be entertained since he is a perfect being and can't get bored.

3. He doesn't need companionship since he is perfect and doesn't get lonely.

Pray...

This time of year floods me with people who suddenly want to pray. If I hear another conjugation of the word pray, I definitely will explode. That word is grating on me like fingernails across a chalkboard. Prayer, to me, is actively doing nothing yet giving the false illusion of doing something.
