A Skeptical Use Of The Words BELIEF, FAITH And TRUST

A Skeptical Use Of The Words BELIEF, FAITH And TRUST

In atheistic and sceptical discussion the words belief, faith and trust are often used with implicitly different meanings and this leads to misunderstandings.   My solution is to define, how I use these words.

Faith and belief are to me synonyma, because they both translate to only one German word, Glaube.   If there is at all any difference,…

A Leap of Faith

Let’s All Have Faith

If something cannot be proven, there is likely to be a reason for it. If something cannot be seen, it can still be proven. Gravity cannot be seen by any of our current technology. But its effects can be seen and measured. Just try dropping an iron weight on your toe. Or do you think that was a spiritual effect by god to punish you for being stupid enough to drop it on your toe?

Gravity can be measured, its actions observed and even predicted. I… Continue

The Prejudice of Christians

AN: Am I asking for it? Read this here or at Good Reason News

This is a little out of character for this blog, but this guy from the New American, whatever that is, really needed a logical spanking. You can see several of my posts in the comments there, but I warn you, someone on there… Continue

Losing trust in god?

Apparently I've not been clear enough with my coworkers. One of them included me on their forwarding list for the following e-mail:

REFUSE NEW COINS

This simple action will make a strong statement.

Please help do this.. Refuse to accept these when they are handed to you.

I received one from the Post Office as change and I asked for a dollar bill instead.

The lady just smiled and said 'way to go', so… Continue

Atheists, Be Pro-Active

Let's organize an effort to strike the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" off our currency.

Let's launch a political campaign to get "E PLURIBUS UNUM" back onto our currency.

Let's place more atheist ads on buses like in London, England and Washington, D.C.…

John is my glue...

That's the only way to describe him. He put me back together, just like fixing a broken doll. I honestly don't know what I would do without him. I had nearly lost my faith in all of humanity til I met him. We have been together seven years now. He came to me at a time when I thought all men were garbage, and showed me that there are good ones out there, and you CAN have a good relationship with somebody. He has treated my boys like they were his own. We have had our arguments, but they never… Continue

Come together one and all

Hello fellow atheists!  I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims.  I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.

I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists".  I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:28pm 2 Comments

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

War on Christmas in May

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…
