It's Just a Word

One of my kids asked me if I'm nonbeliever and of course, I asked, "A nonbeliever of what?" I wasn't trying to be flippant, but there are so many things not to believe in that it is difficult deciding where to start. Then I said, "I suppose you mean am I a nonbeliever in god?" That prompted a long discussion, but I think he understood when we finished talking.

He was trying to find a way of categorizing me to a few of his friends that read my books. I hadn't given it much thought,… Continue

Believers and Nonbelivers

I know I'm behind the times but, I just saw the Debate(?) between Matt Slick and

Matt Dillahunty. I have to admit that Matt is Slick. I don't know about other people but,

their debate, to me, was weird. Slick appeared to try, exceptionally hard, to win the

debate through confusion and get Dillahunty to admit something. See I'm confused.

But, true to form, Dillahunty slammed Slick at every point.  But Slick seemed unable

to absorb the Logical, Rational and Common Sense…

AtheistNexus with tons of theist ads

So, I just recently joined this community but shockingly, more than ever do I suddenly find myself showered with theist ads on atheistnexus.org So far I've seen an ad to find a muslim partner, an ad for a Christian women's magazine, a youtube link to scientology, etc. Who's in charge of selling ad space on the site?

Pretty weird!

My Story

Hi, I’m Mark, I am 24 years old, I was born an Atheist like everyone else, but early on in childhood I was introduced to Christianity. I was never baptized or ‘saved’ as they so arrogantly state.

As far back as I can remember my Mother always went to church,…

Toy Story: Satan's Favourite Film?

This was just too funny. Don't we all just love those insane individuals that ruin the image of theists everywhere? This is taken from the site of a church which may well be the next incarnation of the Westboro Baptists:

"The disgusting, lewd little toys from the Toy Story movies use their tiny legs and arms to crawl up from the hot-rocks (pixars) in Hell and peek their demonic heads into the doors of Hollywood producers…

Stupidity

First blog. I just need to vent for a minute.

I always find myself at a loss for words when I see some people's statuses on facebook or twitter that says, "I am amazed/angered/upset at the stupidity of some people!" or something along those lines.

It's not that their being angry at the stupidity of some people is particularly hard to believe. I find myself feeling this way often. It's just that these people are, almost always, the most fundamental (read: crazy) religious… Continue

Cursed by a Street Preacher!

As I was minding my own business this Friday afternoon on campus (U. Mississippi) waiting for calculus class, I was accosted by a street preacher. Before talking to me, I overheard the man talking with another student a few metres away. It seemed that he had the poor chap convinced. Anyway, when he was done with that student, he began talking with my friend I was waiting with, a Christian, about "salvation" and such. After being reassured that my friend would certainly go to Heaven upon death,… Continue

Holy humor - is religion too serious?

In July 2008 I wrote some articles to make my column and blog readers think each being presented as a piece of humor and a different slant as seen through this poor old atheist eyes. I now wish to share these small humorous articles with my new friends and audience on gather.com

The first deals with the problem of a second coming of the Christian savior Jesus Christ of whom I think as one of the worlds greatest philosophers.

I am the son of… Continue

It’s Okay to believe there may be a God?

You may be a declared atheist maybe a weak atheist like me, but I am sure at times you wonder if you got it all wrong. What if a God or Gods really do exists yes I am sure at times you may wonder and lets be honest about it, its at times when we think of dying.

I often lay in bed wondering what if I got it all wrong but then the hard facts come to mind about my path to atheism which was due to reading the holy text, well at least those that originated from the Middle… Continue
