Damon Fowler is from Bastrop, La. is an atheist and a graduating student. The small town school has always had a Christian prayer during the ceremony, a common practice that seems to be persistent. Damon, being a proud atheist, refused to bow his head in the prayer and threatened to contact the ACLU if the prayer wasn't stopped. The school board backed down, but the school itself certainly did not.

reports that "Scores of schoolgirls in the Afghan province of Kunduz have fallen ill over the past week..."
It is always the weak and the defenseless who end up shouldering the biggest burden of war. Demolition of schools and education centers and systematic eradication of teachers, academics and other professionals of liberal education has been a trait of the Islamic movements in Afghanistan. While Taliban can not… Continue

So tonight was SANE's (Student Atheists and Non-religious at Elon) first meeting as a student organization with provisional status! yippee!
Mike, our fearless leader, graduated a semester early at the end of winter term so we also had elections and now have a new President, a VP, Secretary, Treasurer and Webmaster. Sadly I am none of these things but I will not let this interfere with how much I give to the group. (Even if they get tired of me ;) ) Mike'll be hanging around… Continue

My university finally allowed our secular student organization to get started! S.A.N.E. (Student Atheists and Non-Religious of Elon) has its first meeting tomorrow night, I just saw a flier, quoting Thomas Paine of course, and got mad excited. What did I say last year? Birth-screaming before Turek came back, amen!
Of course I'll make sure everyone who's interested join Atheist Nexus. It's the least I can do.
Wish us luck :D

Please check out my sculpture project and let me know any feedback you might have.

We had a great group at CU this afternoon. The Secular Student Alliance and Boulder Atheists organized it. One of the interesting questions that came up in the discussion after my presentation dealt with "Is there a way to eliminate the infection in someone once they have it." Interestingly enough two people seemed to be living answers to that question, a man named Kyle and a woman named Barb. Kyle had been a devout Mormon his whole life until 8 months ago. In a short conversation after the… Continue

Just a summary
Church to me, felt/feels like a chore. I know the people there will act so holy in church and when they are back home, they go back to their greedy lives. I've always noticed how women would wear their best clothes to church like it was a fashion show. I actually started questioning the bible when I was 12 or 13. I asked my sunday school teacher if the bible was completely valid or reliable after being translated so many times. His answer, I can't remember… Continue
