A New Snippet From "Christ's Rebellion"

The trip to Capernum had become disastrous. Looking over his shoulder beyond the massive crowd of would be students and desperately ill citizens who had traveled many miles to just touch Jesus’ robes, Judas saw a small detachment of town guards waiting for them. These…

Accidental gospel study

For the last couple days I've been working on writing a comedic parody of the life of the character Jesus. I won't tell you my storyline yet, but rest assured it's a laugh to write and hopefully it will be to read when done. An interesting consequence though of this project is that it's giving me the closest look I've had at the gospels since I was a kid and I'm noticing things I never did before.

The first observation--I'll put more later--is the frequent recurrence of…

The Road to De-conversion is Paved with Good Intentions - Part I

I've never really taken the time to properly sit down and walk through my life and give others that opportunity to view my de-conversion process before. Perhaps some who view it might see that I, just like many others, have shared the same struggles and some, who might be still struggling, might find something of value in it that might pull them through.

I was not born into a religious house. The religious fervor that was pushed on me didn't take place until years later. It…

Old Warehouse

This started out as free writing but turned into something.

"Do you have it?" Red said.
"Yes." William answered, lifting a large duffel bag.
"Where did you find it?"
"Does it matter?"
"Yes."
"Well I prefer to keep that a secret. Do you have the money?"

Make your own creation myth

This is somethimg I thought would be interesting: Write a creation myth. It doesn't have to be the creation of this world it can be the creation of a fantasy world, alien world, etc. You can have one god, many gods or no gods.

Heres one for a story idea I had that would probably be allot better off as a game scrip.

In the beginning there was only void and from the void came Phoenix and Lóng. Phoenix and Lóng battled, from their battle came Air,…

My story

This is my story. I think it is different than many other people's story so that's why I'm telling it in some detail. It begins in a remote part of northern California where I grew up during the early 70's. Imagine a barely developed countryside with homesteads separated by miles of woodland and connected by a winding dirt road. My nearest neighbors were my cousins who lived about a mile away. Other than my siblings they were the only kids my age I knew until I started school, but I saw them… Continue

Blood Moon Chapter 4 Rewritten

Blood Moon Chapter 4 rewritten

I was dissatisfied with the existing chapters, the story wasn’t bad but the writing was terrible so I rewrote them.

A large muscular man walked though large temple caring a golden goblet wearing only a long white loin cloth. He had long, white curly hair and a long beard. The large man walked to a large throne on the south wall and sat.

The temple floated a thousand miles… Continue

A man ran though the burnt out remains of a house. His hair brown, his skin tan, his cloths covered in dry blood. “Yemima! Illean!” The man called but no one answered. The man stopped in the middle of the remains he beheld a burned and dismembered corpse of a woman.… Continue

Blood Moon Chapter 2 rewrtten

I was dissatisfied with the existing chapters, the story wasn’t bad but the writing was terrible so I rewrote them.

“I do apologize to you young man but I can not go with you. I am banished.” The old man said.

“My master has the full authority of the Shia Empress Djamila Attia.” Iosif said. “What ever you where banished for-”

“I banished my self!” The old man… Continue

In the last days when the earth is dieing and the gods are gluttonous and corrupt the dead moon will arise and release the dragon who will take vengeance on the gods.

My Introduction and History

Hello out there. I'm feeling a bit shy. Is it weird that I am actually more shy around atheists than christians?

Maybe it's because to me, other hardcore atheists are a bit of a rarity. Most of the people I know who are non christian are either pagan or agnostic. I'm not sure how I managed it but I have ended up with a boyfriend and a roommate who are both very strong atheists, though neither are what I would call "militant." I am probably the most dedicated of the three of us in… Continue

Wild Geese by Mary Oliver

Today my favorite poem just came to mind out of the blue. When I first heard it over a decade ago, it was very helpful to me in realizing I didn't have to sacrifice myself, like I had been raised as a christian. I am also requesting that you share your favorite words or images that have helped you find yourself, especially in regards to becoming godless. The poem and the request are… Continue

And god was born..

This is a basis of a story I am writing but first a bit of history about where I began.

I remember that I was in 4th grade and my teacher asked, 'What do you think about god?' to everyone. Everyone said a few lines about how god was the power and the giver the provider and stopped. When it was my turn to speak, I was a little nervous initially but then I said, 'I don't believe in god'. My teacher was horrified, the next half hour was spent trying to explain to me that I was an… Continue

“A Deck of Cards” (originally published in Polluto Magazine Issue 1) in the articles section

A deck of cards is an amazing teaching tool. With it, I’ve taught students elementary concepts such as addition and subtraction as well as advanced concepts in Algebra and Geometry. As a teacher trainer and lead teacher for my district, I have built up my reputation with eleven years of dedicated teaching, yet a few seconds could demolish my reputation and possibly cost me my job if word got out that I am an atheist.

Although I teach in a public school, the vast majority of the… Continue

You're just an atheist because mommy and daddy never hugged you!!!

Of all the insults, of all the absurdities and smug assertions of superiority, this one will always have a special place in my memories. This post, my friends, takes the cake.

I was arguing with somebody on Facebook, and she got so fed up she left in a huff. As is sometimes the case with online debaters who get really worked up about a debate they're in, she set her husband on me.… Continue
