"Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear."

Hello fellow free thinkers, I was recently at a local muncipal government health clinic. There on a stand with information purtaining to the clinic, and it's services was a stack of issues from a local, "community monthly publication". The title is: "Changing Times", and evident by the cross accompaning the title, and the content within; this is a christian publication! This clinic is run by the local municipality, which in turn is part of the state's department of health & hospitals,… Continue

I refuse to capitalize christian/christianity (unless it begins a sentence). It’s not that I don’t respect your right to believe as you please, in fact if you are truly
a christian I respect your beliefs and would like the same in return. What I don’t respect, and in fact resent, is the level at which christianity is ever increasingly being shoved down the throats of those of us who don’t happen to subscribe. Christianity is used as a vehicle to dictate cessation of behavior that you… Continue

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A parent’s complaint and action by Gwinnett County school officials has apparently not stopped volunteers at a church from asking students to pray before a test. A parent contacted Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh on Wednesday and said it happened to her son twice before he took an exam at a local church. Thursday a student told Kavanaugh it happened again, despite intervention by school officials.

Holy cow — the atheists are proselytizing! I unveil Connecticut Valley Atheists' latest offering to the Vernon Green and demonstrate how the myths of religion and Santa Claus teach believers to behave in order to earn a reward, while atheism offers the only path to true, unrewarded morality in this week's CVA Vlog.…

First, ask if they believe if the Old Testament still applies to a Christian Today. This will guide the rest of the discussion. As stated earlier, many fundamentalist state that they think the Bible is free of errors and contradictions. For my purpose and definition I would call “free of errors” as meaning that internally or externally is there anything inconsistent with the or contradictory in the text of the Bible or reflected in reality.
The good thing about this… Continue

In April of this year, U.S. District Court Judge (Western Wisconsin District) ruled that the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional, and equated the 1952 and 1988 laws establishing the Day of Prayer as federally mandated calls for religious action. In so deciding, U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb wrote that the government can no more enact laws supporting a day of prayer than it can encourage citizens to fast during Ramadan, attend a synagogue or practice magic.…

I am an American.
On top of that I am also a Texan.
I was born in Texas and can trace my family coming to Texas in the 1850’s.
Most of my family came from the United Kingdom. The rest came from Europe.
Some have been in the United States since the early 1700’s. Some fought in the American Revolution against England.
For what I can tell, they all were “Christians” of some sort or another.
I am an Atheist.
I’ve been an Atheist since the age of six.… Continue

The yummy treats that the Good Friday Turtle (if he exists) might bring us next year!
Unlike Christmas and Easter, which unfortunately have become widely commercialized and somewhat secularized, Good Friday remains very unambiguously a religious holiday: specifically a Christian one. Very few people would claim that Good Friday is a secular holiday.… Continue

Another look at recent history around the world where religion and politics collided is proof the US should do more to promote the Separation of Church and State. This time I examine the Irish-English conflict.
