Beck goes and makes a comparison between what appears to me to be an ill-cast Satan character in the History Channel series, "The Bible" and Barack Obama. Here's a side-by-side:
From Beck's perspective, this was just another opportunity — he doesn't really pass up any —… Continue

A couple of prayer requests for the President came across my desk a few weeks ago. At first I just deleted them because they came from my religious friends and I didn’t want to offend them even though they probably never considered that the people on their mailing list may be of different religions or no religion at all.… Continue

Romney and Ryan believing in a god would be nothing remarkable: but is it not the case that both believe in a real, active, in-this-world Devil named Satan ? Or am I confusing theMormon cult with the Moonie cult?
Most believers in radical Islam also believe not simply in the reality of evil, but the reality of a personality named "Satan" or some equivalent.
Motto: if there is no God, hope eternal that there is no Devil

First off, I'd like to say that if anyone could give me hard evidence of the existence of Continue
a goD and this evidence could be tested by Scientists and proven to be true then I
would crawl through 100 miles of razor sharp glass just to kiss goDs feet. Simply
put, I am open minded to a certain point. The bIBLE can not be used as hard
evidence because it is a book of stories written 2000+ years ago, by humans that
were very ignorant of the reality around them. Plus, many of the…

Sure, God probably gets all of the jokes here. How about everyone's second favorite imaginary place?

I have a lot of time to blog and think being in Egypt for the next few days. There isn't much to do here and between the call to prayer going off about every 3 hours, and people all around be saying "inshallah" (god willing) and elhumdallah (thank god) every 17 seconds I remember how much I hate theism. So it seems the god of the Bible and Qu'ran did everything in his power to hurt humanity. It's almost like he was auditioning for the role of Satan. Between spreading plagues, wiping out… Continue

Recently during an email exchange with a friend of mine (in which I was trying to explain to him that the bible was not literally true) my friend explained to me that I was… Continue

Turns out I'm not the only one who thinks that one of the great injustices of the Christian religion is its portrayal of Satan as The Greatest Evil, which isn't even warranted by biblical standards. This week, I read these two essays:

Immediately following on from my last blog
, about how I'd posted a video on Facebook about Homosexuality and Christianity, received one angry message from a Christian who promptly de-friended me (how shall I ever live with myself ? ? ? ) - someone began commenting on the video.
Turns out - as you'll see - he's something of a spiritual, new age kind with a penchant for CRAZY and lists, LOTS of lists… Continue

Clips this week come from the BBC comedy "Outnumbered," in which awkward questions are asked by children, and adults fail.
Hopefully, I will be off-planet in a couple of days. So if you don't see me next week--you'll be too busy escaping the horror that awaits. Otherwise, I'll be podcasting from the saucers after I've had my fill of alien ecstasy. Praise… Continue

If you watched cable during the late 80s and 90s you might remember this little gem of television programming called Mystery Science Theater 3000. If not that's even better! I love sharing my cult TV obsessions with the uninitiated. :) This movie has an extra groan factor just for us atheists: it's all about witches and witch burnings, demons and even includes that public domain favorite "Amazing Grace."
Episode summary from… Continue

To the best of my knowledge, Helen Ukpabio and Nigeria's Liberty Gospel Church haven't been posted about here before (hint: it's considerate to do a search for existing discussions before generating a whole new one. Both 'Hitler' and 'abortion' have shelf lives
). Child witches in Africa have been discussed
, but Liberty Gospel takes the horror and idiocy to a whole new level. I am pretty speechless.… Continue

In school today, a christian fundie guy came up to me, knowing I'm an atheist, and said "You're doing Satan's work"
I tried to laugh it off, saying I don't believe in satan (duh), he does not exist.
Then he said "You might not believe in Satan, but Satan believes in you!"
And he walked off, proud of how he had "scared" me.
