My Atheism Doesn’t Need Evolution

Atheists are often portrayed as die hard believers in evolution, and atheism is quite often portrayed as being dependent upon believing in the validity of evolution. But you know what? Some people, such as myself, did not need to rely on Darwin to steer our courses off the path of religion and onto the path of reason.

Consider:

The bible was not created by a god nor inspired by the word of any god. It was written by a number of people who tried…

Even More catholic Whining

Back on June 13, 2011, I wrote the blog post More catholic Whining, in which I described the situations happening in some States like New York and Illinois, involving certain catholic charities having issues with their states making it illegal to discriminate against straight couples in common law relationships and to discriminate against gay couples when providing fostering and adoption services. Now I thought this story was…

The Jews Killed Jesus - Christianity's Biggest Lie?

i was just watching this video on youtube, "the hidden jesus" where a christian theologian explores other religions with stories similar to the jesus story.

what got my attention was in part six where he makes the claim that "for the last 2000 years christianity and judaism have been at war over jesus. why? because of what some consider christianity's biggest lie."…

i've started a series on early church history on youtube

it's called "shady church history" and i base it on my background in classics and early medieval history.

i haven't used my youtube channel in this way before, so i'm not sure how it's gonna be received. (probably just ignored, as there are a lot of good videos made from atheist angles out there, lol.)

anyways, i have 2 episodes finished so far. the first is an introduction to the series, the second deals with lies propagated by the church and how one in particular led to… Continue

Vatican Accuses Scientists of not having enough faith or reason!

In the recent edition of the Osservatore Romano (16-17 Feb 2009) there is a very short piece entitled "In the footsteps of Galileo science must value faith and reason." The message is spelled out in the first sentence, stating that scientists are called upon by the Vatican to not renounce "neither reason nor faith". To suggest that scientists do not value reason is an insult of the highest order. But the abuse of language which is one of the hallmarks of Vatican propaganda needs not only to be… Continue

Galileo and the Vatican - comments on new Osservatore articles

The Vatican has decided to join the events of the International Year of Astronomy 2009. It is also nearly the 400th anniversary of the publication of Galileo's Starry Messenger (Sidereus nuncius). The Osservatore Romano has recently published two articles concerning these events. On the 30th January is the piece "Galileo's revolution 400 years later" and on 31st "The "Galileo Case" as an opportunity for dialogue". The style of the Osservatore, and of course the Vatican, is always tortuous when… Continue

Come all yea unfaithful - Co-author a new book to shock the world of theists (well at least put some on a more accepted track)

As out spoken Atheist we are always bitching about the stupid things we see in the Christian Bible (well I do, lol).

A few weeks ago I was thinking well look this guy Christ I can believe he walked on earth 2000 years ago. But magic no, I have seen how such tricks are done it’s all slight of hand, lol But of course I throw coins sometimes in to a wishing well and have a vague idea that I have a 1000000 to 1 chance of my wish to come true. Other than being the King of England of… Continue
