Members of the Congressional Black Caucus called President Obama on the carpet over the astronomical rates of unemployment in the African American community. The rates of unemployment in the black community is double that of the white community and if taken by city, it reaches nearly 30%, a number that escaped the record books. Sent an in-house email to the cereal "Cheerios" company

I recently bought the largest box of Cheerios with the childs book "Sleepy...". Before handing it over to a child I read it to make sure it is good reading material. The content seemed nice except the push for prayer. This portion really disturbed me for there are many of us non-believers of the so-called God or Gods... A First Time Entry Regarding Death, Loss & "Why"

My office recently lost a co-worker to a tragic accident. The funeral is tomorrow, so it is still pretty fresh on the brain. This is the second death in the office in as many weeks, and being a big corporation, management decided to bring in a representative from our Employee Assistance Program. I understand the need for a program like this and I'm grateful to work for an employer who offers this type of service to its people, but something about the presentation made me uneasy. First Post

So, I guess this is to be my first blog post. I suppose I should tell a little bit more about myself than I put in the 'About Me' section of my profile.



The short version: I was born, I went to school, and now I go to work.



I'll skip the details of my childhood, except to say that I was raised Roman catholic. I tried to believe, but it didn't take. Then I had lots of arguments about going to church with my parents.
