My response to a beloved cousin who recently appeared on my doorstep.

As you are well aware, I express my thoughts and feelings as honestly as I can, and it gets me into more problems than need to occur. In my 78 years of living, I gained nothing by remaining silent in face of what confronts me. I paid a terrible price for remaining silent when I should have screamed at the top of my lungs, and sadly, my kids paid the price for my cowardice.

I don’t mean to imply that remaining silent is cowardice in all…

Game over folks if you vote for those freaks.. nah mean!?

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Speculation that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is on Republican Mitt Romney's short list of potential vice presidential candidates is drawing new scrutiny to his decades-old writing about an exorcist-type act he claims to have watched as a college student.

Political analysts say Romney, who rarely mentions his own Mormon faith in public, might be hesitant to pick Jindal as a…

A “True” Story Posted by My Grandfather to Facebook, or What Older Generations Really Think of Young People

A “True” Story Posted by My Grandfather to Facebook, or What Older Generations Really Think of Young People

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's…

It’s time for a good old fashioned rant: Utopianist Idiots

A utopia is a perfect (or close too it) society free from the problems that plague real societies. You can find utopianists throughout the spectrum's but mostly on the edges. Authoritarians are utopianits as well are anarchists, there are atheistic utopianists who thing if we get rid of religion the world will be at peace and there are theocratic utopianists who believe if everyone and every government followed their religion the world would be a peace and there are…

Responsible Party

I was thinking about how so many of the things that athiests/agnostics/skeptics are called seem to have a negative spin in people's minds. For example the label "Brights" instantly makes the people who just couldn't get an A+ average or even an A average feel like tearing things apart with their teeth. Something that doesn't have an arrogant or perjorative ring to it is needed... but what?

And I was also thinking... Democratic Party, Republican Party, Libertarian Party... hmmm. How about… Continue

Atheists, Be Pro-Active

Let's organize an effort to strike the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" off our currency.

Let's launch a political campaign to get "E PLURIBUS UNUM" back onto our currency.

Let's place more atheist ads on buses like in London, England and Washington, D.C.…

How to argue with your idiot brother-in-law

Sara Robinson’s entry today on Blog for Our Future is probably the best short summary I’ve ever read, of exactly why liberals should stop being nice and polite and backing down to avoid family arguments during Thanksgiving dinner. I’m pretty lucky; I rarely have to deal with this stuff at family holidays. When I have, I’ve usually managed to avoid a blowout death match,… Continue

A Place For Smart People

So far my experience with Atheist Nexus has been all positive. :)

I've met some cool people and learned a lot of stuff too, mostly depressing political stuff that I've had to then blog about.

You know, of course, atheists are more intelligent than bible thumpers, right? According to Richard Lynn and 2 other smart guys, we are.… Continue
