A little perspective (poem)

Take me up to the vacant moon

To look back down upon mankind

To gaze in awe of all we’ve done

And hold myself smug in those things

Take me further to Saturn’s rings…

Deconversion is Difficult

Anyone who has successfully deconverted knows how difficult that can be to give up on a cherished idea.  I wrote a short poem expressing how difficult this was for me.

the mind

pregnant with a new thought…

Who Shall Protect Our Gods?

Disclaimer: This is my first blog a so I begin by apologizing for all the rules of blogging that I will break.  Actually I'm not going to apologize for breaking the rules (for if they were important they would have been written down in a place where I would have read them . I am going to apologize for offending you. Hmmm...perhaps not; for insult is taken. never given and I…

Unholy Thoughts; A poem

Atoms, molecules, and cells;

Skin and bone and organs...

Conscoiusness, thoughts, and emotions? I am feeling and moving and trembling.

Thoughts of everything and nothing floating about my mind; jumbled and mixed together, like a puzzle that is never quite solved. A jigsaw in my head, screaming to fit together, longing for its proper place.

Darkness encroaching on the light, making happiness meaningless yet glamorous. Unattainable solace…

More Poetry

This one is by me (Stephanie Sargent), like my Transitional Haikus.

Untitled

Imagine insignificance,

fathomless night penetrated here ad there

by ghostly dots of light,

snowflakes on an empty asphalt parking lot

thinly spread by winter's first weak gasp,

across

vast black spaces beyond measure,

from their… Continue

Precious Hours

Precious Hours

Sometimes I wish I had never been born

Into this world of troubles and pain.

But then I wouldn't have known

The beauty of an early morn

Or the gentle caress of Summer rain.

I wouldn't have seen the grass so green

Or the azure blue of the sky.

I wouldn't have heard the songs of the birds

Or the children asking why.

Sometimes I feel so confused and lost

In a world of misery and fear.

But, given the… Continue

Wild Geese by Mary Oliver

Today my favorite poem just came to mind out of the blue. When I first heard it over a decade ago, it was very helpful to me in realizing I didn't have to sacrifice myself, like I had been raised as a christian. I am also requesting that you share your favorite words or images that have helped you find yourself, especially in regards to becoming godless. The poem and the request are… Continue

Lost in translation

I am by no means a perfect speller,

Or even great at grammar,

But reading a post written in text-speak

Is like bashing my eyes with a hammer!

Seriously, I cannot be the only one

Who sees are language die

Every time u use u for "you"

and refuse to capitalize an i.

when numbers stand 4 words

and punctuations thrown 2 the wind

i dont no where 1 line ends

n where the next begins...

the overuse of ellipses

can bring… Continue

Winter

The death-like frigid air

sharpens its blades upon your sputtering lungs

having burrowed its way through twin nasal cavities

it crystallizes your breaths from the inside out.

Suffocating your zephyr with its own,

upon exhale, your life visibly evaporates before you.

And so it was with us that in defense of this nipping assault

with hands split and fractured like dried up ravines

we struggled to even adjust our wooly scarves over each others chapped… Continue

my atheist poem

You judge us and tell us

"You're going to hell"

It's fallen on deaf ears

can't you tell?

we don't want your god

so stop your trying

whatever you're selling

we ain't buying

oppression and lies

submission and fear

"You better pray,

the end is near"

bigotry and hatred

I want no part of

I mean… Continue

I Live on a Pixel

Our planet,
but a single pixel in space.
Our lives,
insignificant, or perfectly in place?
Little motions,
multiplying into megascopic reactions.
Little steps taken,
significant, or trite transactions?
I live on this pixel,
this pixel called, “Earth,”
and sometimes I wonder,
what it’s all worth.

Revenge

The relentless wrath of revenge revolves a rage remarkably reasonless.

Each side tied to stride inside an eye for an eye however unjustified.

Lies disguise this senseless mess, an infinite regress, obsessed to penalize.

Victims vandalize and violate virtues guide when they too, victimize.

The prize? Everyone dies.

The ancestral smile

As the momentum builds,
the air increasingly glides through your fingers
until, Wham!
Your palms collide.

As soon as you can peel your hands off of each other,
Wham! Wham!… Wham!
Again, you repeat
with great apelike movements.

A primitive means to communicate indeed,
Your hands red and stinging, yet a grin,
following the air between your fingertips
an ancestral smile lights up your face.

Our father who art not in heaven

The fattest fairytale ever fed

fixes a folly to foil ones head.

Flattering its host with features to attract,

it forges a fiction flavored like fact.

It’s firm to force that flesh will fade

and fibers internal are forever in grade.

Made in faith this figure does flower,

framed as the most famous, favorite, phantasmal power.

Our father who art not in heaven,

figure in yet another seven

days or more

to free us from each and every… Continue
