I love podcasts. I've been listening to them for a couple years now, because I found Skeptics' Guide to the Universe, Skeptoid, and Scientific American. There are so many good podcasts out there, and such a huge diversity. Chariots of Iron, SGU, Skepticality, This American Life, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History, etc etc.
What initially draws you to a podcast- the topic, the slickness of their advertising, their format, the options they have available for their community- and just as… Continue

As you know, I made a YouTube video
(that currently has over 140,000 views) about the immoral lesson taught in the Noah's Ark story. Last week on Hellbound Alleee
I talked about some anxiety/OCD issues I have, some involving the fear of reading possible negative comments or emails on blogs and… Continue

My interview on Chariots of Iron Podcast came out today. I talk about The God Virus and Recovering from Religion. Eli, Mark and Lamar really did their homework and had great questions. I think we explored the Civil Religion idea better in this forum than in any others I have done. Having three guys interview is a trip. It was more like we were all sitting around the table with a beer and having some good laughs. The interview portion is in the last half of the podcast.
Here is the… Continue

I was just interviewed by David Driscoll of Secular Nation Podcast. The interview went great and he gave me a lot of time to talk about Recovering from Religion as well. Take a listen at this link
David really did his homework and had excellent questions for our discussion.
Please let others know about the podcast as well.

Alleee and Franc discuss what gives life meaning, and what meaning actually means, because, well, everyone's talking about a different thing, aren't they?
Does heaven, or everlasting life give one meaning? Does reproduction? Does heroic or memorable acts give life meaning? Or does life already have meaning?

Franc and I answer listener mail, and talk about Hitler.

Carl Sagan's Cosmos is still relevant, still enlightening, and still entertaining after twenty-nine (!) years. I am fond of them all, but the one that sticks in my mind is the tale of the Heiki Crabs, which bear, ostensibly, miraculous markings on their shells. Carl explains why, and relates this artificially selected phenomenon with the theory of natural… Continue

The clips in this week's show are from a terrible, terrible "educational" film full of LIES! LIES I tell you. Plus, it's narrated by Anita Bryant. What more do I have to say?
All week, I've been harrassed by a woman whose trying to save my soul.
This tells you all you need to know about me. I'm trying to break… Continue

Carl Sagan's book, "The Demon Haunted World," is as close to an "atheist bible" as you can get. Well, it is to me, anyway. Here I include the chapter called "On the Distinction Between True and False Visions," which deals with Marian apparitions.
Carl Sagan * True and False Visions 1
Enoch Light * Don't Sleep in the Subway
Inger Nilsson * Keep On… Continue

Ajay Lowery's album is some kind of anti-federalist, sovereign American thing. Which would not be too bad, were it not so pro-American. I know, right? Just in time for Easter, folks. An Easter record for you, all about how the IRS should be brought down. Which is also not so bad, either.
What? What do you think you pay for with your federal tax money? Dolls for orphans? Stem-cell research?… Continue

I have listened to Rich Orman's Dogma Free America for a couple of years and love his international flavor to understanding the impact of religion on the world. This week he had me on his podcast to talk about The God Virus. You can listen to it on iTunes or download it from his website: http://dogmafreeamerica.com/index.php?post_id=452268
Rich has a great interview style and certainly did his homework before the podcast. Take a listen and let me know what you think.

Had a great conversation with Rich Orman on his podcast, Dogma Free America. You can listen to it through iTunes of his website http://www.dogmafreeamerica.com/ It will be on line around April 8.
His is one of the three or four free thought podcasts I listen to every week. I have listened to his podcast for a couple of years now and enjoy its "wider angle" view of the issues we all are concerned about on the planet. What is different is their more international view of religion's… Continue
