A “True” Story Posted by My Grandfather to Facebook, or What Older Generations Really Think of Young People

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's…

Gods for nutters only!

Will God etc, one day, only be believed in by schitzophrenics and the mentally infirm?

Opium of the People

Until a few days ago, I always interpreted Marx's famous quote "Religion is the opium of the people" as a metaphor.

A few days ago, I changed my mind.   I was sitting at a bus stop and got into talking with the woman sitting next to me, who in less than a minute presented herself as a Jehova's witness.   Usually I avoid religious discussion as a completely futile attempt to get through the believers' delusion.   They believe, what they feel a…

Youth Unemployment in the UK

The unemployment rate for 16-23 year olds is the highest it's been in a generation in the UK, with record numbers of university graduates and school levers going straight on the doll. Even though this feels like a fairly recent news story, caused by raised tuition fees and extensive cuts implamented or planned by the fairly new coalition government, it really has been a growing problem for many years now. I graduated university in the year 2009, which, at the time, was considered the worst…

hanging laundry outside is controversial? are you serious???

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091118/us_nm/us_usa_laundry

I know most people don't hang their laundry outside anymore, but I had always thought it was just b/c they're lazy.

It saves a ton of money and energy, but people are too concerned with their own vanity ("it looks trailer trash") to tolerate. People objecting to the sight of someone else's undergarments is very Victorian. (Look away, then.) The… Continue

asleep in God

My reply to The Cost of Religion thread

Because of God a people slept

For God they conquered

Mothers wept

For king and country under God

Over they innocent they trod

Yea, there were those to question "why?"

In public did those people die

God gave the rulers holy right

God's… Continue

Creationist Says Science Relies to Heavily on Faith

Ray Comfort is a creationist. You may remember him from the Crocoduck video I posted last weekend. Ray has a blog called (for some reason, I don’t quite get it) “Atheist Central”. Today Ray posted attacking evolution, and the so-called “pope of evolution”, The New Atheist favourite (that’s for you, my Commonwealth friends) Richard Dawkins. The article is full of glaring hypocrisies, I almost didn’t want to post about it, as it’s just too much.… Continue

Creationist Boob in the Hot Seat in Texas

Ah, Don McLeroy, the creationist dentist and scourge of secular Texans. Don is in a lot of trouble you see, after thrusting Texas into the national spot light when he pushed for looser language in the education standards that would allow creationism in the classroom. More

My rules, reposted

I'm fairly well inebriated (2/3 bottle of wine), or I would never say some of this. Enjoy. Please comment. Not really a common thing for me to be drinking to excess, but more common recently. An excess of anger/frustration that needs to be muted, perhaps.

Ahem, edited. More humorous, less cynical and snotty.

Rule #1

There are no rules. Officially.

#2

Um, and don't fucking tell anyone you have rules. Not that you would. It's just a bad idea. It… Continue
