Don't you love it when you get to see mainstream Christian's true colors? Don't you feel good to see that those who brag about loving the neighbor are just as, or even more bigoted than the average person? Isn't it reassuring that we are in the right path?
So, some days ago, this billboard was put up:…

I've always said that there is reality, and perception. Reality is. Perception is just our animal brains working to understand reality as we can conceive of it. Now the great mistake that many people make is thinking that their perception of reality is what reality is. But perception can be wrong, reality can't be.
So here is my perception of the world... We are a spinning rock with a staggering combination of factors that has led to life's easy flourishing.… Continue

My father is dying. He is dying but he is happy. He will be 80 in October and he may make it that far, though we are not sure. He is in pain and he has been struggling for many years with breathing and chest pain as well as pain in his legs.
But I do not want to dwell on the pain. I think there are many women who think of their fathers as heroes. I know this is true for me. When I was little I wanted to be just like him and one would often… Continue

I am an American.
On top of that I am also a Texan.
I was born in Texas and can trace my family coming to Texas in the 1850’s.
Most of my family came from the United Kingdom. The rest came from Europe.
Some have been in the United States since the early 1700’s. Some fought in the American Revolution against England.
For what I can tell, they all were “Christians” of some sort or another.
I am an Atheist.
I’ve been an Atheist since the age of six.… Continue

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.

I may be misinformed here but my take on Islam is that it is the 'One true religion' and its followers have a duty to convert kaffirs or declare jihad on them (whatever the interpretation of that is). It is that black and white. As for apostates, I know of no other religion where some factions advocate death.
Faith schools and religious segregation are allowed and encouraged by this government and Madrasses are being set up all over the place. I have learned about fundie christian… Continue

Sixth grader Greg Heffley learns important lessons about friendship, being a good friend and identity in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. A light-hearted, middle-school buddy movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a perfect dump and run movie.
Entering middle school wasn’t as easy as Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) anticipated. Some of the kids are way bigger than him. The same things that are cool in elementary school become a badge of shame in middle school. Greg does everything he can to fit in and be… Continue

Right after the Annual Conference held at Kolkata, our Bankura branch has jumped into action. A tribal girl, Putul Tudu aged 12 years was being given in marriage against her will. It is not only illegal in India, but unethical and inhuman. Our secretary Biplab Das from Bankura visited the remote village Housibad amidst the jungles of Taldangra with another member Tarun Rakshit on 9th March and stopped the wedding. He informed the police and got the attention of the administration and saved… Continue

To further debate, I'll repost the following "revelation", received as a young man by a (now-retired) prof. of philosophy at Virginia Tech, Harlan Miller.

October 12, 1997. Attitudes of atheists toward religion.
Nonbelievers call themselves by a variety of names, and have
formed a plentitude of organizations (despite their small numbers). I
think this is due to the range of attitudes they have on crucial
issues, foremost among them religion.
Recently, on an email discussion list, I read one man's comment
that he preferred the… Continue
