They're so cute when they're ignorant!

Isn't it adorable when someone on the internet thinks they know you better than you know yourself? Mind readers are the best! Here's one I found on YouTube.

I was commenting on this George Carlin video. Someone had suggested that we not use the term atheist because of its negative connotation. I suggested that we not let ourselves and be bullied into watering down our lack of beliefs. beallendall08 kindly corrected…

Questions to ask spooks

I've used a standard question to throw voodoo spooks when they start babbling excessively for many years now (so long I can't cite the original idea) -

Why aren't there any psychics barred from casinos ?

Surely, if casinos can instantly spot and eject card counters, it shouldn't be too hard to deal with psychics ?

More recently, I've come up with another one -

Why don't professional dowsers volunteer their services to clear third world… Continue

Do you worry about how A|N presents itself to the world ?

[Please direct pertinent commentary to the forum copy of this post (full details are posted there)]

9/11, nutjobs, selective blog editing and Clarence

This has reached a point of ludicrousness that is on par with the worst nutjobs I have ever encountered. However, it is not something I feel can be ignored nor… Continue

Re: Richard Gage, a credentialed questioner of collapsing steel framed buildings amid molten steel and nano-thermite; the story of Bldg 7 World Trade Center.

[continued here due to dissenting commentary being shutdown as inconvenient to the original conspiracy expose]

* Posted by Clarence Dember on 1 June 2009 at 8:00am

Richard Gage is an Architect and says 700 Architects and Engineers are coming together demanding an enquiry into the veracity of the story of the near free fall collapsing of steel frame buildings at the World Trade Center caused… Continue

Dark Age memetics

Both creationism and environmental denial are almost daily news. Their vile triplet, anti-vaccination crusading, hasn't reached quite the same level yet, but this article is a fascinating read -

A Broken Trust: Lessons from the Vaccine–Autism Wars

It's quite a sobering reminder of the actual scale of the assault being mounted against reason. Recommended for those who are still… Continue

The Truth About Atheism

Been a couple of posts (again) yesterday about the vile propaganda and raw hatred that gets directed our way from theists that are immune to any kind of basic logic or argument a 5-year old can understand. It does nothing other than encourage renewed, freshly envigorated assaults. I summised the mentality as follows here -

"Smear, ridicule, noise, distraction, slander and outright falsehoods.… Continue

Could a fundie pass a Turing Test ?

[Due to people's complete inability to follow simple instructions and keep commentary in a single instance of a thread, I have given up. This article is replicated here for anyone smart enough to bang two rocks together and wants to follow all comments]

The futility of using reason against religious loons of all flavours is a recurring theme here. Their defenses are an impenetrable… Continue

Nutjobs that blame disasters on godlessness - a different approach

You've probably heard that the southern OZ firestorm was caused, obviously, by our liberalisation of abortion laws. I'm trying a different tack with these maggots. I think this is a good approach for any nutjob that chooses to associate tragic disasters with godlessness -

I would like to personally thank you for the following article -

Prayer doesn't change God, but changes him who prays

Prayer as Black Magic

This has been a recurring thought of mine since I was a child, when I got

kicked out of Sunday school. The priests told my parents I was "possessed"

because I wouldn't stop laughing and cracking jokes. Even at that early

age, the absurdities that were being shovelled down my throat seemed just

that - absurd. But I digress.

The concept of prayer to me has always reeked of what the superstitious refer to as "black magic" - the invocation of supernatural forces to… Continue
