Atheists - Are we doormats?

I recently had an experience which reminded me that being an Atheist does not hold you in the neutral category. We are seen instead as ‘the enemy’ and as much as you try to exclude yourself from fanaticism, the very act of exclusion enrages believers who would declare non-belief to be a far more sinister threat than belief in something, even if that something is in direct opposition to their worldview.

Study 1 (at my current place of employment) : A group of my colleagues and I…

Would you read this novel ?

If you will, please read the foreword to a novel that I am writing. I have about 8-10 chapters and would like to self publish this work of mine a chapter or so at a time. I am tired of goofing around with these publishers I am not sure about, so, my hopes are to just give it to you kind folks if I can figure out how to do this ! There's many things I don't, yet, quite understand about my Chromebook, although I like it a lot . My book is about the many missing years of, arguably, one of the…

YASNS WTF OK fine

Yet another Social Networking Site - Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! "You really should join!"

OK fine.

So anyway, I went ahead and joined AtheistNexus. I have too many theistic friends and family on Facebook; I was having to go back to MySpace to really speak my mind, but mostly as a lone voice crying in the wilderness. I've been slightly more assertive on Facebook of late, but it is never far from my mind that one of my longtime High School friends is an Episcopal priest, while two… Continue

A little Background....

When I was about 12 years old I came to the realization that god was not real. As I stare into the picture of the virgin Mary it occurred to me, why do i have to do this(pray before her)? He might not even exist? When I came to this conclusion I felt it necessary to share it with my parents. There response was to send me to church more often...thinking that all I needed was "Jesus in my life", this, it turned out made me an atheist. When I was about 16 however I could contain it no longer, I… Continue

Our culture can’t repel stupidity of that magnitude!

Watch... if you dare.

So… the antibiotics finally took effect, and a few minutes later some sunbeams happen to shine on a wall… and that’s proof of titanic entities composed of pure energy roaming the cosmos doing good deeds? The afflicted little girl aside… how does everyone else who appears in this video manage to feed themselves?

“Whether the light is a camera misfunction (sic) or not is not the issue,”…. really?… Continue

My history with Christianity

When I was growing up, my father was extremely harsh and controlling. He was never physically abusive in any way, but he was an emotional nightmare, and that nightmare tended to spread to anyone who got close to him. I don't hold a grudge against him any more; we've spoken and made amends, so to speak. As a small child, however, many of the things about him were terrifying -he was tall, his voice was deep and loud, and every time he got mad, it was an explosion of rage that had built up because… Continue
