Recently a person who shall remain nameless made to me an argument stating that money is bad, nay, EVIL. I will not bother to detail this person or their argument further except to say that this is what inspired what I'm about to say. So let's start off by insulting almost everyone who will read this.
It is a fact that most Americans are clueless about money. I know this because data illustrates it: right now (October 2013)… Continue

Since then the international value of Mussolini's nest-egg has mounted until it now exceeds £500m. In 2006, at the height of the recent property bubble, the Vatican spent £15m of those funds to buy 30 St James's Square. Other UK properties are at 168 New Bond Street and in the city of… Continue

I feel disgusted. You probably do too.
I watched this week's episode of Bill Moyers and Company with their guest, Marty Kaplan (found here: http://billmoyers.com/episode/full-show-big-money-big-media-big-trouble/).
In it, Marty Kaplan said; "People say they know it's a con, just as they say that they are not being swayed by the ads for products that they see on television. If… Continue

Red Mass 2010 in Washington D.C. we find a woman who is moved by our stand of truth! She breaks into tears and admits it is hard to be a catholic during the crisis of child molestation in the church. I was undecided whether to post this video online or not.
!Rand Paul is a straight up psychopath.

It seems that everywhere I go these days I am being beseeched by someone or something. It used to be that other than the random bum on the corner, the only time I would be harassed was from the government in the form of taxes or other types of theft, but lately it seems like I can’t go anywhere without being besought . I had become accustomed to the bum on the corner with the “I will work for food” sign in hand and the occasional parking lot confrontation of “hey brother can you spare a… Continue

I was originally going to publish this at Associated Content but they don't give up front payments for opinion articles so I published it there under a non-exclusive license and will publish it else where including my blog
Beliefs in gods is as old as civilization as is religion. But is the belief in god(s) and religion necessary? Does it benefit society or does it harm society? It is my belief that a belief in god(s)… Continue

Blogs come and go, and atheist blogs are no different. However, there is one aspect of blogging on atheism, agnosticism and the whole family of faithlessness that has been bothering me for some time: how to make some money doing it? Now, anybody who has tried inserting some Google Adsense advertising on their blog or website immediately comes up against a problem – there are few if any relevant adverts. Perhaps worse than that, a lot of the advertising space has been bought by religious… Continue

So I went to the local Lasik place here this morning for a consultation. After a quick check on a very snazzy machine that gave my prescription after only 2 minutes of making a little pinwheel image come into focus for each eye (it not only gave my Rx but also was able to tell that I had astigmatism in both eyes!), I got to hear the real scoop on cost.
$2745 total!! (Unless I need permanent "plugs" to help with tearing. Those are an additional $398.)
I looked into this guy and… Continue

Let's organize an effort to strike the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" off our currency.
Let's launch a political campaign to get "E PLURIBUS UNUM" back onto our currency.
Let's place more atheist ads
on buses like in London, England and Washington, D.C.…

The Following is a great satire by my good friend and mentor Riki Mathews
O come all Ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant
O come Ye, O come Ye to the altar,
of the al mighty dollar
O come let us adore it
O come let us adore it
O come let us adore it
Money, and, Our Lord
Let me preach it, brothers and sisters! Are we losing our faith? Have we forgotten the power of our joint saviors so intertwined that we have stamped "In… Continue

I've noticed the Support Ads that are now gracing our pages in place of the chat. I've never had the pleasure of talking to Brother Richard (I hear he's nice
) but if I did, I'd make a suggestion, borrowed from one of my favorite authors and also from my time at different communities on the web.
First, I miss the chat feature, but that may be that it just needs work, like the photos section. Hopefully these things will come back. I understand the huge undertaking that… Continue

So, I've been on Atheist Nexus for a little while now. So far I find the place to be fun, inspiring, and quite friendly. It's been a great experience. While I'd love to donate tons of mad cash, I don't have it. But I read my new friend Hessenroots
' most recent blog post about donating, and thought, hey, what a great idea!
Hess just started a CafePress shop
to sell all… Continue
