Do Atheists Talk About Anything Other Than God?

I started to dismiss this query immediately, but quick reflection prompted me to answer the question. However, the question took me aback not that I hadn't considered it, but because it was one of the few times, I've run into someone who in effect asked me if I was human.

Something that is unclear in the…

PS. On Labor Day and Work: A Real-life Bartleby

"I called to him, rapidly stating what it was I wanted him to do—namely, to examine a small paper with me. Imagine my surprise, nay, my consternation, when without moving from his privacy, Bartleby in a singularly mild, firm voice, replied, ‘I would prefer not to.’

I sat awhile in perfect silence, rallying my stunned faculties. Immediately it occurred to me that my ears had deceived me, or Bartleby had entirely misunderstood my meaning. I repeated my request in the…

Youth Unemployment in the UK

The unemployment rate for 16-23 year olds is the highest it's been in a generation in the UK, with record numbers of university graduates and school levers going straight on the doll. Even though this feels like a fairly recent news story, caused by raised tuition fees and extensive cuts implamented or planned by the fairly new coalition government, it really has been a growing problem for many years now. Public Education in the United States of America

It's a crazy conspiracy theory that education is deliberately stifled in the U.S. right? Wrong. First and foremost, I was never taught critical thinking skills in District 186 in Springfield, Illinois. Mondo Diablo Episode 286: This Christmas has Been Brought to You by Child Labor

This week, the Krampus and his workers, Knecht Ruprecht, Krampus, Hans Trapp, Zwarte Piet, Klaubauf, Muff, Butz, Pere Fouettard and Belsnickel, bring you the last in the series of Worst Jobs podcasts. This time it's children making dolls for children, gos-herding and turkey dressing. As in, yanking the guts out of hundreds or maybe thousands of fresh turkeys, by hand, in time for… Continue

Atheist Jobs?

Ok, this is driving me crazy. So I've recently finished college with a BA and now I'm looking for work, but I don't want just any job, I want a job working to help improve the position of Atheists in the US. It's something I'm very passionate about and I would love to pour my energy into it. Naturally I ask myself "Ok, what groups are there that you might like to work for?" I do a little research and come up with a list. FFRF, CFI, AA, AHA, just to name a few. So I've been sending my resume to… Continue
