the coin that you pay with is one you once tossed

prisoned inside my private world

i watch dust devils dash and swirl

and lift the skirt of a nubile girl

i hear the wind raping the trees

i see the bruised and battered leaves

come crumbling down around her knees…

Seriously, I'm not Funny.

No, seriously. I'm not. Not Ever. The FBI told me I'd be jailed as a terrorist if I attempted stand-up comedy. Because I'd bomb so bad. I'd be a human bomb. Like a suicide bomber, but comedic in intent instead of socio-political.

See? Ahilarious.

I'm not often bothered by it. I'd never publicly whine about it. I may have no ability at giving "teh" humor, but I can still LOL and :-) with the best of them.

I'd only lament it if my balls were being burned off with… Continue

The worst thing about smileys...

There's no nose to punch, and no balls to kick. They just sit there with their idiot grins, "beaming happiness into the aether"... Makes me sick.

But it was the evangelical Protestants, (you know, the literalists, the creationists, the kings of intolerance) who ran away with it. More

How about forming a Church of Atheism?

A half-serious question. Why not take advantage of the tax shelter and collect some of that "faith-based" money? Perhaps it could be diverted to some better causes. I don't know all the details of this, but would there be an advantage over simply creating a non-profit charity group? Hostile religious types like to accuse atheism of being a religion itself all the time. (of course, the fact that they consider this an insult is obviously self-defeating)

I can see the dangers in it too,… Continue

Replace Religion?

It's a common meme: If you are an Atheist, and you support science, you are frequently accused of trying to replace religion with science. A recent example is here: What's wrong with science as religion? The zen answer to that question, of course, is mu. What exactly is wrong with the question? Few if any Atheists have actually advocated such a thing. What… Continue
