I finally joined The Atheist Nexus

My name is Robert Madewell (yes, that's my real name). I am an atheist / rationalist living in Northern Arkansas. I am only 1 of 3 atheists I know of living in my town. Maybe, I can meetup with more local atheists on this site.

I am the author of the blog Superstition Free. I'm also a regular at The Fayetteville Freethinkers, to which I drive 70 miles once a month. I am looking to start a… Continue

By way of introduction....

Just trying to find my way around here, figuring out what all these doodads and what-nots are for. Most of my blogging is at my own blog but I guess the atheist-humanist related posts should get sucked into the aggregator...? I don't know how this one works.

Anyway, I grew up without much direct religious influence as a kid, figured out i was gay as soon as I learned there was a word for it, then got sucked into the Jesus Movement of the… Continue

Greetings all you heathens

I figured this would probably be the best way to say hello and introduce myself a bit better. After many a bashful months, were I mulled over the idea of joining this site, I finally took the plunge. I had followed the discussions about AN on PZ Myers site and simply waited to hear any other news. Now, curiosity has the better of me and since I really can't stand MySpace and FaceBook, I came here.

K. E. Taylor is the name and I'm a former member of the US Coast Guard, current… Continue

Introduction

I just recently joined Atheist Nexus because I moved to a place to teach Spanish where most people are conservative and Christian. Before I lived somewhere where liberal atheists were relatively common, and at least no one would assume I was a Christian or Republican.

This is my first year teaching, and I had to move here to get started, or somewhere I would like even less. Not knowing anyone, and being afraid to say what I really think out here, I need somewhere I can go to be… Continue

Here I am.

Nice to meet everyone. I'm glad to have this site for a bit of venting and a bit of real non-theist community. Not that other places aren't just as nice, but this feels a little bit safer than saying these things on MySpace or one of the other more public blog spots. I used to have a journal online (before it got termed blogging) that I tediously updated, but I dropped the account a while back, and they finally got around to purging it last year. Not that it would make entertaining reading, as… Continue
