Some Reasons Why I Am An Atheist

First off, I'd like to say that if anyone could give me hard evidence of the existence of

a goD and this evidence could be tested by Scientists and proven to be true then I

would crawl through 100 miles of razor sharp glass just to kiss goDs feet. Simply

put, I am open minded to a certain point. The bIBLE can not be used as hard

evidence because it is a book of stories written 2000+ years ago, by humans that

were very ignorant of the reality around them. Plus, many of the…

"Devil's" Music

Sure, God probably gets all of the jokes here. How about everyone's second favorite imaginary place?

A Bible For Believers And Nonbelievers Alike

What if you took the Bible and edited out all the supernatural references and got to the core of its ethical teachings? That’s not quite what the new release by…

Book Review: The Good Atheist - That's what he/she said!

I bent the binding of The Good Atheist, Living a Purpose-Filled Life Without God, by Dan Barker, in hopes that I would either come out of it in some way affirmed or finally have a resource for a person struggling with the decision to let go of their faith.  When I closed the book, I felt like a sore eared member of the choir.  The majority of Barker’s book is an appeal to authority and celebrity, a mishap of astonishing proportion when speaking about, to, or for, a community that…

Good influences

Recently I wrote a post on my public blog about my Aunt Eleanor, who was a terrific influence on me when I was a teenager. She was an artist and interior designer, a beatnik (this was in the late 50s) and a freethinker.

She introduced me to philosophy and to people who actually lived and breathed it. Finally I was with people who wondered what life was all about and considered the big questions.

Of course, my major inspiration in life came from books, in the long run. But Aunt…

Be Good For Goodness' Sake

Holy cow — the atheists are proselytizing! I unveil Connecticut Valley Atheists' latest offering to the Vernon Green and demonstrate how the myths of religion and Santa Claus teach believers to behave in order to earn a reward, while atheism offers the only path to true, unrewarded morality in this week's CVA Vlog.…

How Atheists can help mankind using their computers

I've been a member of the World Community Grid for several years now and finally decided to join the atheist and agnostics team instead of having my PC run alone in the vast universe of WCGs members. The best way to show a ludicrous pseudo-moral theistic…

The Myth of Good and Evil: From Hitler to Mother Teresa

(Reprinted from my blog HERE)

These days, the archetypes of good and evil in our society are Mother Teresa and Hitler, respectively. If you start with these two as the paradigms, it becomes pretty easy to figure out what "Good" and Evil" are really all about.

I admit that I have never met Adolf Hitler. Fortunately for this blog post, however, I have met Mother Teresa. It was in… Continue

Children Good Without God

A concerned prospective father sent me a message asking,

"I'd like to learn something as a good father from you. Considering that you're an atheist, how can teach your children how to behave in good manner and ethic. Because when I was a kid, my parents used to tell me "Be good boy and tidy your room then God will bless you...etc." I don't want to say these words to my children as a prospective father. And i wonder what do you…

What kind of father is HE anyway?

Raccoons, rats, sharks and flat worms find their food in nature. All they have to do is find it and take it. Most of them succeed, since as far as I know those species have existed for millions of years and are still with us today. So it’s fair to say that a large number of…

Sarkozy wrong on Burqa ban

I've been told to stop simply posting teases to my blog and start just posting my writing here. If I hear enough voices against this reposting, I'm willing to hear whatever suggestions people have. I hope you'll still visit my blogger blog and comment there if you like. Thanks for reading.

Allah forgive me, I'm about to back the Muslims. Just so we're all clear, this isn't a blog about bashing… Continue

Anti-abortion preggo blogger not preggo

Apparently there was a blog about a woman who made that tough decision to give birth to her baby, even though it was terminally ill. However, a little bit of research exposed this woman as not pregnant. The whole thing was a hoax.

Is the Bible free speech?

Not when you preach in a public school. Unless this guy wins his lawsuit.

Fuck church...

I was forced to go to church until I was 16. Every sunday I got dressed up in ridiculous, uncomfortable clothes and forced to waste a perfectly good sunday listening to a grueling marathon of religious rhetoric and human psycho babble.

The church of jesus christ of latter day saints was the bane of my young existence. In terms of churches it has to be the worst one. The Sabbath starts out with something called 'Sacrament' which is an hour meeting where members of the congregation… Continue

Vilification

Do we need to vilify the messenger?

It appears that some people are starting to get tired of correcting the information over and over again. Everyone is tired of defending the same arguments over and over again.

There is always some new punk who comes into town and says "Draw Mister!" And, we begrudgingly thumb through our old notes and paste them into new blogs.

The problem is the bridge these punks cross over. Where is it? Does it matter? We can do two things. We… Continue
