The challenge to fundamentalist religious must be thorough, in the present, and with teeth. The harm of those who use their beliefs based on superstitions injure people, flora and fauna, and the Earth. For individuals to put their confidence on legends of the ancients may bring them comfort and a purpose for being, however, we can not tolerate fundamentalists imposing their beliefs on others.
It isn't enough to confront the public policies and practices of… Continue

It's cowardly I know, then again most people are cowards about most things. I will never come out as an Athiest. My two sons are scouts, my daughters best friend is a fundamentalist, and my boss is an Evangelical. Scouts have to believe in god as well as be heterosexual. My daughters friend would not be allowed to play with her if it was known that we are athiest. My boss would hound me mercilessly if he found out I didn't believe, first in an attempt to save me, and later in anger when I… Continue

In light of Chris Hitchens' bout with oesophageal cancer a proclaimed Christian fundamentalist took it upon himself to write a rather touching blog post in which he claims to pray for Hitchens' recovery. First of all, I believe that it should have remained a private matter as it was obviously politically motivated, but that's beside the point. At one point in his post he stated: "I know the irony is not lost on [Hitchens] that the same faith he so
ruthlessly savaged is the same faith that… Continue

For those who blessedly don’t know, Kent Kovind Hovind is a leading voice in the young-earth creationist movement and the builder of the Dinosaur Adventure Land Creationist Theme Park in Pensacola. Where you can ride 'the Leap of Faith' swing. Well, after they reopen, which will be once they get enough money to pay the taxes they 'forgot' to pay.…

OK, this is my first post, but it's 1am and I'm a little tired. Need to be quick, as I'm not supposed to have PC access right now....
My family currently requires me to go to church with them twice a week: once on Sunday morning, and once on either Sunday or Wednesday night. That often interferes with my work schedule, but they don't care. They'll just kick me out of the house if I refuse (not joking, sadly).
Tonight I sat through an hour of the youth pastor explaining the… Continue

I was raised pretty damn fundamentalist. In fact, we looked at churches like Saddleback and thought "Pff! They aren't TRUE believers." Frankly, we didn't have much respect for people who didn't take their faith seriously enough to entertain the notion of drinking a little poison now and again or handling venomous snakes. I mean, come ON - the Bible says if you really have faith you can do it and not be harmed!
Actually Christians and atheists all seem to agree on one thing: My… Continue

Yes, fundies insinuating themselves into A|N are nothing new. They’re usually on missions to save our corrupt souls, are quickly detected and booted out the door. But the strange case of Antonett Ewan
is markedly different and worthy of all of our attention.… Continue

In school today, a christian fundie guy came up to me, knowing I'm an atheist, and said "You're doing Satan's work"
I tried to laugh it off, saying I don't believe in satan (duh), he does not exist.
Then he said "You might not believe in Satan, but Satan believes in you!"
And he walked off, proud of how he had "scared" me.
