Greetings to all fellow atheists. Perhaps some of you feel as strongly as I do about the craziness of teaching Creationism as anything more than a myth. I would have liked to just have treated this as part of the "darker side of humanity" and let it die out. Unfortunately, little children are taught this myth as fact. I would like to pool together ideas on the community's experience with Creationism, and find ways to end it! It can be a personal experience, something that happened in the… Continue

Why We Believe in God(s) by J Anderson Thomson
At the first glimpse one wonders why this 140 something page small format book was brought out in a book form when all this could well have been… Continue

How often have you heard theists say this? Personally I hear it at least 5 times a week. while walking around my college campus with atheist and evolution shirts I'm often stopped and asked about my belief. example one shirt I have says " Fine, I evolved, you didn't", so sometimes I spark quite interesting discussions on campus. Now as a scientist I am often insulted when people say "Evolution is only a theory" for 2 reasons.
1) They don't actually know what a theory… Continue

After taking in the latest movie from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, my feelings are mixed. I feel that I should like the movie more, especially with its strong anti-theology slant (actually, only anti-Abrahamic religions slant), but I just don’t feel that it lives up to what the duo accomplished in “… Continue

Watch the Vlog
All the Christians in Christ-town found Christmas quite fair,
But the non-Christians, who made up two-thirds of the world’s population, didn’t care.
Now they didn’t hate Christmas at all — au contraire
They just wanted the Christians to stay out of their hair.
They wanted to know if there was any sane… Continue

A butterfly I designed using Charles Darwin's Finches. The different finch heads and beaks carefully arranged to form an image of a butterfly. The bird's eyes compliment the butterfly's unique wing design.

Anyone get their Ray Comfort copy of On the Origin of Species
today? They weren't handing it out at Elon so my brother, who goes to Virginia Tech, grabbed one for me for free. I'm not sure if it's a copy with or without the deleted chapters on biogeography but it does have Ray Comfort's foreword, which is what matters really. XD
I might review the foreword once I get… Continue

I started compiling the list over the summer, and now it is finished. I have a list of 100 NEW Questions for Christians. Okay, so maybe someone has used these before. But they are not the usual questions atheists approach theists with (or respond to theists with) like the Problem of Pain or the immorality of hell (or genocide or having rape victims marry their rapists, etc.) These are new questions like, what does God think of abortion? What would Jesus do? and Are gay dolphins sinning when… Continue

Over at Angie the Anti-Theist I've got a lot uncommented posts. Those make me sad :( So I've done a few things to make it easier for non-Blogger members to join in the conversation. I'm using the Intense Debate comment system, allowing anonymous posters, and I've switched my blog to accept GRAvitars.
Posts that need your love (to feed my ego):

Ok, I know, we're all good-natured atheists here, but this article would be for those of you who know creationists and fundamentalists. I know they are all hypocrites, but they are really bad about it. So I listed everything I could think of that they need to forsake. Please feel free to add to what I've got already. The whole article is at HDC

A Turkish creationist's stunt contest offering 7.5 trillion
lira or $4.6 trillion U.S. is still open and will be for a very long time. But can you expect anything else from someone who thinks that evolution is a Zionist/Freemason conspiracy to enslave his countrymen?

This is a post from my popular science blog, Weird Things which I thought would be of interest to Atheist Nexus's community since I'm trying to summarize the atheist/agnostic stance on life and provide a rebuttal to the theist charge that atheists and agnostics are angry and bitter because we have a very limited worldview. Here's the post in its entirety...
I periodically get asked why I write about creationism and creationists and try to use a scientific battering ram on people who… Continue
